We offer occupational therapy services in the comfort of your own home. Our therapist has a flexible schedule and can bring the services to you in a way that works best for you and your family. We also have a variety of additional services available in addition to our standard services. All services are customized to fit your child's precise needs, and the needs of your family.

We've been getting some questions about our coaching style. We use a model called Coaching in Context, designed by occupational therapists for occupational therapists. Our style hinges on 4 key pillars: Strengths-Forward, Client-Drive, Positive Psychology Based, and a Disability Justice Approach. These 4 principles ground our sessions allowing us to empower our clients through our coaching conversations.

Happy Disability Pride Month from Rhoads to Independence. We are proudly disabled and neurodivergent woman owned. Recently, Janine the OT and Coach at RTI and our founder was awarded a research inclusion grant from the Craig H. Nielsen Foundation. Janine has been working on her Doctorate for over a year now and this grant is a big door opener for her into research. Janine’s primary areas of focus are Coaching for people with SCI, neurodivergent students, and those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Her doctoral study will be on coaching for those with EDS which is very exciting. Happy Disability Pride Month to all disabled people, and thank you as always for supporting us at RTI!

It’s been long overdue since I shared myself on here! My name is Janine I am the founder of Rhoads to Independence! In addition to that I am a neurodiversity affirming, strengths based occupational therapist and client driven Coach! I love working with people and empowering them to meet their goals.

Some things I love to do are spend time with my family, there are many of us, garden, hang out with my pets and advocate for disability inclusion and belonging. I’m a disabled and neurodivergent OT with a few different conditions that disable me. I have worked with on ways to include disabled OTPs and am working with them on a bigger project right now surrounding addressing the ableism that is so rampant in our profession. I’m very excited to be a small piece in changing OT for the better.

When not working or at home you can find me taking classes for my Doctorate in OT. I am a research Fellow and won a Craig H. Nielsen Grant that enables me to bring my unique perspective to the science field. My interest areas are around coaching, chronic illness, disability and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It’s been amazing working with the research team and learning from them. I look forward to bringing EDS to the table for more studies into alternative and empowering treatments for the community.
