The Right Care Starts Before the Hospital
A new study published in Cureus Journal of Medical Science found that for severely injured trauma patients, the quality of care provided before reaching the hospital may have a greater impact on recovery than transport time alone.
Researchers found that patients who received Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) care experienced shorter hospital stays and improved recovery outcomes.
This reinforces the growing importance of equipping paramedics with lifesaving tools, including blood products, directly on ambulances. When severe bleeding is involved, having blood available at the scene or during transport can help stabilize patients sooner and provide critical care when every minute counts.
As more EMS agencies add blood to their ambulances, patients can begin receiving advanced treatment long before they arrive at the hospital, helping improve outcomes for trauma victims.
