✨ What Actually Causes Congestion In The Skin ✨

If your skin feels bumpy, clogged, or dull, you’re not alone. Congestion happens when buildup gets trapped inside the pores, but the causes go much deeper than “not washing your face enough.” Here’s what really contributes to congestion:

🌿 1. Over-stripping your skin
When cleansers are too harsh, the skin barrier gets damaged. Your skin then produces more oil to compensate, leading to clogged pores and breakouts.
🌿 2. Heavy or comedogenic products
Oils or moisturizers that are too rich for your skin type can sit on the surface and trap buildup. (Yes, even “clean beauty” products can clog pores.)
🌿 3. Dehydration
Dehydrated skin becomes tight, sluggish, and less able to shed dead cells. This creates buildup that gets stuck in pores.
🌿 4. Hormonal shifts
Fluctuations in estrogen, progesterone, insulin, or cortisol can increase oil production and slow cell turnover.
🌿 5. Gut imbalances
Digestive issues, food intolerances, and microbiome disruptions increase inflammation that often shows up as clogged, bumpy, or congested skin.
