Ready for the answer to "What is wrong with this picture?" Here it is! When stretching the hamstrings with a stretching strap, the opposite leg should be resting straight on the floor, not bent up as in the first picture. Bending that opposite knee rotates the pelvis back a bit and is the body's way of cheating/making the stretch easier. On the leg that is being stretched, the knee should be fairly straight without being locked. Remember that when you are doing static stretching, hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds and perform 3-5 times each side.

Doing the clamshell exercise regularly can be so helpful for back, hip and knee pain! Make sure to tighten your core muscles before you start, and don't let yourself fall backwards. Trying doing this first without a band around your thighs, doing 2-3 sets of 10-15 each side.
