After 4+ years of working with Deaf clients, I’ll keep saying this:

Self-advocacy is empowering. Constantly having to advocate for basic access is exhausting.

Deaf kids deserve to learn, socialize, make mistakes, laugh, grow, and simply be kids without carrying the responsibility of making their environment accessible.

The adults in the room have a responsibility too.

Just like getting regular labs done, your yearly evaluation makes sure your hearing hasn't changed or there aren't irregularities appearing.

Even if you believe your hearing is excellent, it's never too soon to get a baseline established!
