I would make this one community-focused rather than promotional.

Kindness doesn't have an age limit. ❀️

On International Day of Charity, we're reminded that making a difference doesn't always require doing something big.

Sometimes it's delivering a meal.

Checking on a neighbor.

Sitting with someone who is lonely.

Helping a family caregiver.

Volunteering an afternoon.

Or simply making another person feel seen.

Our older generations have spent decades raising families, building businesses, serving communities, volunteering, helping neighbors, and caring for others.

They still have wisdom, kindness, talents, and purpose to share.

At Town Square, we believe everyone deserves opportunities to connect, contribute, and know that they still matter.

Today, we're celebrating all the people and organizations throughout our community who quietly make life better for someone else.

Sometimes it's the people who quietly show up, do their job well, and bring a little extra positivity with them who make the biggest difference.

Today, we're giving a special Town Square Community Shoutout to Gordon with Cintas! πŸŽ‰

Every six weeks, Gordon arrives with the paper supplies we need to keep Town Square running smoothly. He's dependable, helpful, and someone we know we can count on.

But Gordon brings us something that isn't on the delivery truck. πŸ’™

He always shows up with a smile, encouragement, and ideas for helping Town Square grow.

Those conversations and that genuine support mean more to us than he probably realizes.

This is an important distinction.

Senior centers can be wonderful resources for independent older adults who can choose activities, navigate the environment, and participate with little or no assistance.

Town Square offers something different.

Our adult day program provides a structured, supportive environment where activities can be adapted to each member's abilities.

That means someone who may need a little more encouragement, supervision, cognitive support, or assistance can still have an active and fulfilling day.

We aren't focused on what someone can't do.

We look for ways to help them continue doing what they can.

That might mean adapting an activity, providing additional cues, offering a smaller group, or simply having someone beside them encouraging their success.

A Change in Behavior May Be Communication

When an older adult suddenly becomes more agitated, withdrawn, restless, or confused, it's easy to assume they're simply having a β€œbad day.”

But behavior can sometimes be the only way a person with dementia can communicate that something isn't right.

Before assuming it's the dementia, consider:

πŸ”Ή Are they in pain?
πŸ”Ή Are they hungry or thirsty?
πŸ”Ή Do they need the restroom?
πŸ”Ή Are they tired?
πŸ”Ή Is the environment too noisy or overwhelming?
πŸ”Ή Has something changed in their routine?

Sudden or significant changes in behavior can also have a medical cause and should be discussed with their healthcare provider.

One of the most helpful questions a caregiver can learn to ask is:

β€œWhat might my loved one be trying to tell me?”

Sometimes behavior isn't the problem.

It's the communication.

🎨 Trying something new, one brushstroke at a time!

Our members recently worked together on a community painting project, experimenting with different types of brushes and discovering all the different textures they could create.

Some brushes made bold strokes, others created soft patterns, and every member brought their own creativity to the project. The best part wasn't making everything look the same. It was giving everyone the opportunity to explore, make choices, and add their own unique touch. πŸ’™

At Town Square, art is about more than the finished project. It's about creativity, sensory exploration, conversation, and the fun of saying, "I wonder what this will do?"
