Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of Black Americans.
Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, many enslaved people in Texas did not learn they were free until June 19, 1865—more than two years later. Their freedom was delayed, but their strength endured.
Despite slavery, segregation, discrimination, and countless systemic barriers, Black Americans have continued to rise, lead, innovate, create, and build lasting legacies. Every achievement, every business, every degree, every healed generation, and every dream realized stands as a testament to the sacrifices and perseverance of those who came before us.
Today, we honor our ancestors not only by remembering their struggle, but by celebrating how far we’ve come and continuing the work of building a brighter future.
