This week’s spotlight goes to: Fishing with Vets 🎣

Fishing With Vets is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans and those still serving by getting them on the water. By organizing group fishing outings at some of the Midwest’s premier fishing destinations. The organization gives veterans opportunities to connect, enjoy the outdoors, and create lasting memories.

Veterans are paired with experienced fishing guides who help make each outing a shared experience centered on fishing, friendship, and community. The goal is to catch fish, but more importantly, to build friendships beyond the water.

Getting involved starts with choosing an open event and completing a short registration form. Event coordinators then review the details, confirm available spots, and share what participants should bring.

Supporting Those Who Served – Weekly Veteran Organization Spotlight 🇺🇸

This week’s spotlight goes to: All4Hope, Inc Programs 💙

All4Hope is an outreach organization based in Wisconsin. It supports active-duty military members, veterans, their families, and youth. The organization uses presentations, activities, and seminars to promote connection and emotional well-being. Its work rests on four guiding principles: Purpose, Hope, Action, and Kindness.

Their support for the military community includes programs and activities that strengthen family connections, communication, and wellness at every stage of a loved one’s deployment. This focus recognizes that military service affects the entire family and that staying connected matters before, during, and after time apart.

Other efforts include youth care packages, camp scholarships, and community mental wellness programs. All4Hope also partners with Wisconsin National Guard Children & Youth Programs to support military children and families, including scholarships and honor programs for military children attending Camp Lakota. The organization states that 100% of public donations directly fund its programs.

H.A.V.E.N. Mission Inc., which stands for Helping American Veterans & Emergency Responders’ Needs, is a veteran-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting military veterans, active-duty personnel, and emergency responders. Its mission is to provide direct financial assistance during hardship or unexpected crises, helping those who serve manage everyday challenges that can become overwhelming without support.

For veterans and their families, that assistance can include practical needs such as home repairs, maintenance for personally owned vehicles, veterinary care, and the cost of after-school and extracurricular activities for their children.

Their approach keeps support rooted in the local community. Rather than performing repairs or services themselves, H.A.V.E.N. works with the person seeking assistance and the service provider or contractor they choose. Bows for Battle is a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, dedicated to supporting veterans through the discipline, focus, and healing power of archery. Archery offers veterans a meaningful way to slow down, focus on the present, develop new skills, and spend time with people who value service and shared purpose. Bows for Battle is creating a space where veterans can come together, support one another, and experience the benefits of recreation and camaraderie.

As a new organization, Bows for Battle is just getting started, and we are excited to see the impact they will make for veterans in Wisconsin and beyond. Supporting new veteran-focused nonprofits helps ensure more service members and veterans have opportunities to find connection, purpose, and belonging after service.

ValorFit is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps veterans regain confidence, purpose, and connection through group-based functional fitness. The organization believes a veteran’s self-worth should not be left on the battlefield and works to make fitness communities more accessible to those who have served.

Veterans can receive financial assistance for memberships at vetted local group fitness facilities and gyms, including CrossFit affiliates. The goal isn't just to provide a gym membership, but to connect each veteran with a supportive community to work toward their wellness goals. The standard program lasts 10 weeks, with the hope that participating veterans will continue their fitness journey and remain part of their gym community beyond that initial period.

Excited to be at the Anchor Bar & Grill for the TAKE A VET FISHING NFP event! 🎣🇺🇸

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans and the weather was not cooperating for the fishing portion of the event. But when you cannot go fishing, talking VA benefits is a pretty good consolation prize!

Grateful for the opportunity to spend time with fellow Veterans, answer questions, and help Veterans better understand VA benefits

This week’s spotlight goes to: Custom Canines Service Dog Academy 🐾

Custom Canines Service Dog Academy is a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that raises, trains, and places highly skilled service dogs for military veterans, first responders, and others living with disabilities. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, the organization’s mission is to help clients live a life of abundance through the support, independence, and companionship of a carefully trained service dog.

Custom Canines does much of its work with military veterans and first responders. The organization custom-matches each veteran with a dog based on their capabilities, lifestyle, mobility, personality, and support needs. Then provides training to build a lasting partnership.

For veterans living with post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, or other service-connected challenges, a specially trained PTS service dog can provide dependable companionship and practical support in daily life.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the tragedy of that day, but also the strength, sacrifice, and resilience that followed.

This week’s spotlight goes to: Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc. & Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing - Appleton, WI Program 🎣

Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is a nonprofit organization dedicated to healing America’s veterans through the therapeutic art of fly fishing. The Appleton program gives local active-duty service members and veterans a chance to connect through fly fishing, mentorship, friendship, and time outdoors.

Founded in 2005 to serve wounded service members returning from combat, Project Healing Waters has grown into a nationwide organization serving veterans from every era of military service. Their mission is more than catching fish. Participants build confidence, practical skills, meaningful friendships, and a sense of belonging.

The Appleton program meets at MR. Outboards Watersports Marine, located at 1785 Mid Valley Drive in De Pere, Wisconsin.
