Market and showmanship classes at the Klamath County Fair can be hard on Klamath County 4-H and FFA kids. Moving the animals, the poses, and being on their feet all day can be hard on young spines.

KLAMATH FALLS TRAP SHOOTING CONTEST, 1930

Klamath County Museum’s photo of the week is a 1930 image of participants and spectators at a s***t shooting contest at the Klamath Gun Club. The Club hosted an interstate s***t shooting contest that began on June 26 of that year.

Nearly fifty participants joined from across the West, including Oregon, Washington, California, and Utah.

W.E. Lamm, the owner of the Lamm Lumber Company of Modoc Point, was an early leader. He was overtaken by the end of the contest by M.L. Gilbreath of Lakeview, who took home the top trophy.
