Strength for the Journey family . . . it is with deep sadness that I share that Rev. Larry Dial has passed away. Larry was a cherished personal friend to me and to many of you. He was a strong supporter of Strength for the Journey and will certainly be missed by us all. Please take a moment to give thanks for Larry's love and support of this ministry and I ask that you remember his family, friends and church family who will certainly miss him. He touched the lives of us all.

Have you wondered how a retreat comes together and/or when the team begins working on it?

There is much work done in the background. One example: Emails went out to staff from 2026 in June.

Today, a small group met to talk, share information, do some preliminary planning in Knoxville at Mountain View UMC church.

We are excited for Strength for the Journey 2027!

A huge shout out to a great staff for our 2026 retreat. This ministry couldn't happen without the tireless efforts of all these folks - some of whom take their vacation time to serve this community. Please join me in thanking this great team. A number of these folks have served Strength for the Journey for many years.

There's a song in the Worship & Song book (3113) that was introduced at the beginning of the retreat: "A Wilderness Wandering People". What a perfect song for the theme, the time, the retreat. It wasn't planned, it just happened. When the music leader opened the worship book, that's where it opened....
