A wonderful retirement send off for one of our KOC MVPs. Eric Householder started as a cast tech back in 1984, when KOC only had one office (on Concord Street) and seven physicians! After 42 years with the practice, Eric is retiring as our facilities manager, and we wish him all the best in this new chapter!

The best healthcare organizations never stop asking, “How can we do even better?”

At Knoxville Orthopaedic Surgery Center, we know that no organization is ever perfect—and that meaningful improvement starts with being willing to evaluate our performance honestly.

That is why we are proud to participate in the 2026 ASC Quality Collaboration Safety & Quality Assessment Program.

Through this initiative, we will benchmark our performance, evaluate outcomes, and identify opportunities to continue strengthening the safe, high-quality care we provide to every patient.

Because quality is not a finish line. It is an ongoing commitment to learn, improve, and do better.

When most people think of an ankle sprain, they picture the ankle rolling outward. But there’s another, less common type—called a medial ankle sprain.

The medial (deltoid) ligament on the inside of the ankle is much stronger than the ligaments on the outside, which makes it less likely to be stretched or torn. Because of this, medial sprains make up only about 15% of all ankle sprains.

These injuries are seen more often in sports like football, soccer, and gymnastics, where they usually result from a direct blow to the ankle rather than a simple twist.

Building strength in the muscles around your ankle can help reduce your risk. Balance exercises, such as standing on one foot, improve stability and make it less likely that you’ll roll or injure your ankle. Wearing proper footwear and protective gear during sports also plays an important role in preventing injury.

Our team is here to help in the event of an injury. Give us a call and we’ll help get you back on your feet!
