The DMG Summer Camp is a day camp for children with special needs ranging from 5-14 years of age. Campers enjoy arts and crafts, swimming, and outdoor recreational games directed by staff therapists, special education teachers, camp nurses, and adaptive recreation specialists.

The color of your child’s swimsuit matters! As you gear up for summer fun, choose bright, solid neon swimsuits to help keep your child visible in the water. Dark or murky bodies of water—like lakes and the ocean—can make it harder to spot them, especially in an emergency. Avoid colors like white, gray, black, and blue, as well as busy patterns, which can blend into the water. A neon swimsuit can make all the difference in keeping your little one safe while they play! Alexander experienced a full-circle moment as a VolunTeen completing his rotation in our campus gift shop at the same time his grandmother, Patricia Nash Designs, launched a purse collection featuring five new purses with designs inspired by local artwork throughout our hospital. During his time in the gift shop, he was part of the first on-site purchase of the collection by one of our very own employees.

"100% of the proceeds from this collection go directly to Dolly Parton Children's Hospital and to the children and families cared for every day, right here in our hometown of Knoxville. The designs on each bag were inspired by the work of local Tennessee artists, and every detail reflects what this hospital means to all of us. It's one of the most meaningful collections I've ever put my name to," says Patricia Nash, founder of the brand.

Our campers had a blast at Camp Cure this summer!🎨🤽🍎 Camp Cure provides a safe and fun environment for children K-8th grade with diabetes. Campers enjoy arts and crafts, swimming and diabetes education! We are so grateful for our visitors from Zoo Knoxville and Little Chefs, Big Change. 💙🦋

During her junior year of high school, KatiAnn was diagnosed with scoliosis, a life-changing condition that required spinal fusion surgery. A year later, her perseverance paid off as she returned to normal activities during her senior year. KatiAnn pursued her CCMA license prior to graduation and now helps others as an emergency department tech. Her journey came full circle when she was accepted into nursing school at a local community college, furthering her desire to provide the same level of care she received at Dolly Children’s. KatiAnn said, “The care I received at Dolly Parton’s Children’s Hospital was truly top-tier. I’m deeply grateful for the compassion and support their team showed me throughout my treatment and recovery.”

Outside of school and work, KatiAnn enjoys camping and spending time on the lake with her family and friends. KatiAnn aspires to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) after graduating from her local community college. Her ability to embrace life after surgery highlights both her resilience and the exceptional care she received at Dolly Children’s.

We are excited to share the grand opening of the new Dollywood Family Lounge in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Dolly Children’s.

The Dollywood Family Lounge is a welcoming space designed for rest, comfort and relaxation. The lounge features a kitchenette, nourishment room, showers, sleep pods, dedicated workspaces, and washer and dryer facilities to help meet families’ needs during their stay.
