A question I've been getting a lot: "Why don't you take insurance?"

Unfortunately, insurance-driven dermatology often means your care is being shaped by a third-party corporation which dictates who you can see, how much a healthcare provider gets paid for their services, and what gets approved. This becomes even more challenging for solo practitioners such as myself.

As a direct-pay, also known as a "cash pay" practice, I have autonomy in who I can see as a patient and how much time I can spend with them. That means longer visits, more in-depth conversation, direct access to me, transparent pricing, and a plan built around your medical needs.

For visits you'd like to submit to insurance, I provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Sama Dermatology has launched!

For those that don't know us yet, Sama Dermatology is an all telehealth dermatology practice.

Dr. Sacharitha Bowers, a board-certified dermatologist with nearly 17 years of practice experience, founded Sama Dermatology to provide a high-touch, patient-centered, whole-person focused dermatology care model, that seeks to improve access for patients with dermatological concerns and provide the high quality care she is passionate about giving and knows patients deserve.

A few key aspects to highlight about the practice:

1. A 100% telehealth dermatology practice is rare. In fact, Dr. Bowers, is the only physician-owned independently-built 100% teledermatology practice in the Midwest, and one of the very few in the United States.

2. Dr. Bowers' main goal is to give her patients access to time and a balanced approach to their dermatology care, in a manner that is more flexible for people's schedules.

3. The practice is set up as what is commonly referred to as "direct pay", meaning it is a cash pay practice that does not bill insurance. Dr. Bowers sought to create a dermatology practice that bypasses the barrier that insurance companies often create.

4. Sama Dermatology can provide superbills that patients can choose to submit to their insurance companies for at least partial reimbursement for their care.
