Ochsner Health welcomes Bradley Kimbrough III, MD, to our team of general surgery experts, seeing patients at Ochsner American Legion Hospital in Jennings, LA and Ochsner Acadia General Health in Crowley, LA.

Dr. Kimbrough specializes in general surgery, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures. He cares for patients with a wide range of conditions, such as appendicitis, gallbladder problems, hernias, breast conditions, digestive issues, colon conditions, and skin and soft tissue concerns. He also performs procedures to examine the digestive system and has experience caring for complex wounds.

Dr. Kimbrough earned undergraduate degrees from Louisiana State University and the University of Southwestern Louisiana before completing his medical degree at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine in 2006. He completed his surgical residency at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans and is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery.

Born in Lafayette and raised in Baton Rouge, Dr. Kimbrough brings a true Louisiana perspective to patient care. Outside the operating room, he enjoys cooking for his family, hunting, fishing, exercising and traveling.

Theresa S. endured four strokes in one month, followed by open-heart surgery.

Registered nurse RiChae Smith was there through it all, building a bond as Theresa worked to reclaim her strength. RiChae offered steady comfort and encouragement every step of the way.

Today, Theresa is back doing what she loves, a milestone RiChae calls one of the most meaningful reminders of why she became a nurse.

After 47 years of caring for the Kaplan community, Terry W. is officially retired. 💙

Terry started her career in 1979 as a licensed practical nurse at Ochsner Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. In 1994, she became a registered nurse through the first pilot LPN-to-RN program at LSU Eunice. From the emergency department to surgery, she helped shape the hospital and cared for generations of local families.

A former patient recognized Terry in public years after she cared for her, and still remembered details from those days. "You don't always realize the impact you have on someone," Terry said. "They may remember you for decades because you were there for them during a vulnerable time."

Join us in welcoming Andrew Broussard, MD, back to his hometown of Lafayette, now as part of the Ochsner Lafayette General - Burdin Riehl team.

Dr. Broussard is a colore**al and general surgeon. He treats colon and re**al cancer, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders, conditions of the re**um and a**s, and hernias in the abdominal wall.

Dr. Broussard sees patients at three locations:

Whenever appropriate, he uses minimally invasive surgery. These techniques rely on smaller cuts to help patients heal and get back to daily life.

Dr. Broussard takes time to understand each patient's concerns, goals and preferences. He then works with them to build a treatment plan that fits their needs.

Dr. Broussard graduated from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and Saint Thomas More Catholic High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from LSU and his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. He completed his general surgery residency and colon and re**al surgery fellowship at Ochsner in New Orleans. He is board certified in general surgery.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, cheering on the LSU Tigers and getting outdoors.

Dr. Gunawan is an anesthesiologist who cares for patients before, during and after a wide range of surgical procedures. He specializes in managing pain with a range of techniques and supporting overall patient health throughout the entire process.

He is committed to safe, evidence-based anesthesia care. He works closely with each patient to make the surgical experience as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Gunawan earned his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He completed his anesthesiology residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

The Mammosine is rolling through Acadiana for the 19th year, and Ochsner Lafayette General Breast Center is honored to be part of the ride.

Each year, 99.9 KTDY and Geaux Out Trolley bring local women together for a day of mammograms, laughter and community. Ochsner Lafayette General Breast Center provides the screenings in a calm, welcoming setting. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it's the perfect time for women to take this important step for their health.

Tune in to "Mornings with Chris and Bernie" on 99.9 KTDY weekdays, Oct. 5–16, during the 7 a.m. hour for your chance to win a seat on the Mammosine. Five winners will be passengers and each one can bring a friend or family member.

A mobile trolley is heading through Acadiana this October, offering free mammograms and a chance for local women to ride along with friends while getting their annual screening done.

Kenneth McCarron, MD at Ochsner Lafayette General Internal Medicine says the conversation about prostate health should start sooner than most men think.

"With early detection, all options are on the table," said Dr. McCarron. "When we identify prostate cancer early, we can discuss all of those options and choose a plan that is best tailored for that patient.”
