Our hearts are heavy as we grieve the loss of someone incredibly dear to our organization and its story.
Cathy Clark, RN, was more than a former member of our team. She was a friend, a pioneer, and a joyful, larger-than-life presence who helped lay the foundation for our medical services more than a decade ago, when we were known as Matrix LifeCare Center.
Cathy provided hundreds of ultrasounds, sitting beside women as they saw their babies for the first time. Her face lit up with each little life she saw on the screen, and you could often hear her say with delight, “Oh, there’s that little pumpkin.” She celebrated every life she had the privilege of seeing and grieved deeply for those that were lost. She cared for women who were rejoicing over a pregnancy and women who were frightened, overwhelmed, and unsure of what came next. She led countless STI testing clinics, provided women’s wellness care, and helped shape a medical program built around compassion, dignity, and truth.
But Cathy’s impact went far beyond the medical care she provided.
She was fierce and fun. She was passionate about life and deeply loved the women and children she served. She had a gentle voice, a joyful spirit, and a gift for speaking truth with love. She knew how to sit beside a woman in a difficult moment and remind her that she was seen, valued, and cared for.
There are women and children whose stories are different because Cathy was part of them. And the medical services she helped establish all those years ago continue to serve women and families today.
Cathy was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed. Her legacy lives on every day here - in the work she helped begin, in the lives she touched, and in the heart with which we continue to serve.
