Yesterday, our fabulous Speech and OT team surprised one of our clients with a birthday celebration! They decorated the treatment room and even created a fun "birthday cake" OT activity. She absolutely loved it!

Congratulations, Andrew! 🎉

We are excited to celebrate Andrew on the completion of his Clinical Fellowship (CF) and his transition to earning his Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association!

Becoming a fully certified Speech-Language Pathologist is a tremendous accomplishment that requires years of dedication, education, and hands-on clinical experience.

To earn ASHA certification, a clinician must:

🎓 Complete a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
📚 Successfully complete graduate clinical practicum requirements
📝 Pass the national Praxis examination
👥 Complete a Clinical Fellowship under the mentorship and supervision of an experienced, ASHA-certified SLP
⭐ Demonstrate competency across a wide range of clinical skills, including assessment, treatment, documentation, counseling, collaboration, and ethical practice

The Clinical Fellowship is often considered the final step in becoming an independent Speech-Language Pathologist. During this time, fellows provide direct services while receiving ongoing mentorship, feedback, and evaluation to ensure they meet the rigorous standards established by ASHA.

Andrew has worked incredibly hard over the past year, and we are proud of the growth, dedication, and compassion he brings to the families we serve every day.

Kayla is a Washington State licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with experience supporting both pediatric and adult clients across a variety of clinical settings, including outpatient pediatrics, neurological rehabilitation, and orthopedic care.

She earned her Associate of Applied Science degree from Bates Technical College and also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Western Washington University.

Kayla has experience working with individuals with a wide range of developmental, sensory, neurological, and physical needs. Her clinical background includes supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and feeding challenges, as well as adults recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other neurological conditions.
