I witnessed courage, resilience, and deep strength—especially from these mothers. It was an honor to walk alongside you in some of the most powerful moments of your lives.
✨ 2025 by the numbers:
• 40 vaginal births
• 9 cesarean births
• 4 VBACs
• 20 boys, 29 girls
• 10 home births, 39 hospital births (over 10 hospitals)
• 14 inductions (6 resulting in cesareans)

Across so many rooms, hospitals, and birth stories—each one unique, each one sacred. Thank you for letting me be part of it. Forever humbled by this work 💫

✨ Special Delivery ✨
Nothing is more special than being present for the birth of a grandchild. I was the lucky one who witnessed the incredible strength of my (step) daughter as she brought our second grandchild into the world during her beautiful home birth in The Hague, the Netherlands. 💛🏡
What truly stood out to me was the very different approach to supporting a physiological birth compared to the USA:
* ⭐️ Mother of 41 (advanced maternal age), IVF conception
* ✨ First NST non stress test) and BPP (biophysical profile) at 41 weeks
* 💪 No other health risks for mother or baby
* 🙏 Spontaneous labor began at 41+6, with baby born just after midnight at 42 weeks
* 💥 Birth complication: sticky shoulder / shoulder dystocia — resolved quickly by repositioning and skilled midwife care
* 👶 A healthy 8lb 3oz baby girl, no tearing, and she nursed shortly after birth
* 👩‍⚕️ Present: a midwife and a postpartum nurse
* 🧡 For 8 days after birth, cared for mother and baby for ~6 hours each day

On call life means that you’re on call 24/7. You can get called out during family dinner or in the middle of the night (as was the case last night at 3:23 am).
Today I was lucky and had a beautiful swift birth & (highly recommend him! Amazing bedside manners and overall a great provider) with a first time mom (who did so awesome bringing her son earth side). Just love my 💛✨

Oxytocin is a shy hormone and birth is an event that needs high levels of oxytocin and feeling safe is very important. That was the lesson we learned during this birth. Also not all care providers are created equal so choose wisely! Just know that you feeling safe and trusting your provider is key for your birth.

#500 amazing birth during corn 🌕!2nd baby to this lovely family. Baby girl arrived within an hour after getting to the hospital. Don’t think we could have asked for a better team. Mom had the birth she wanted, supported by the midwifery staff. So special to have supported 500 births, over 500 babies (some were twins) I feel so thankful to the families that trust me to be their over and over again witnessing the strength of growing families✨💛
