A fun and easy way to get into 1/2 Moon!

This is it, I think it is the easiest way to get into 1/2 moon. And fun!

Start in Down Dog-Ahdo Mukka Svanasana (DD)
R Leg up Three Leg Dog
Walk hands toward feet & reach for block if needed
You’re now in Half Moon- Ardha Chandrasana
Slowly turn to the right, hello!

I told you it was easy and fun right? I love to just shake up the regular way I do things when I teach yoga so that my body has different challenges. This kicked in the core and changed the balance from moving up rather than down into 1/2 moon.

Let’s practice yoga together. My course, Come Home to Your Body is waiting for you and includes 6 intelligent yoga practices plus a limited time bonus lesson. The link is in my bio!

Patience is Powerful!

But, when we have maybe been through some “stuff” which often has happened after the age of 50 or 55, we have to be patient. We can’t just sit and hope something happens, we have to make it happen but it won’t be like it was when we were 30!

It’s easy to get frustrated, discouraged and feel less than when our body doesn’t respond like it used to but guess what? That’s too bad, things have changed and while you don’t have to accept it and just live with it, you do have to embrace it and work with it and be patient with your changes! Celebrate the small wins and enjoy an improved quality of life and know that you are going to be thriving as you age rather than giving up because you pushed too hard too fast when you needed to honor this new phase of life and ever evolving body.

Try gentle-to-your-joints cardio like walking, swimming, elliptical machines etc., they are a great way to go. A few strength building weighted functional exercises are critical to building bones and metabolism elevating muscle as well as joint stability among other things and then of course yoga rounds it all out and pulls it all together using all of the rest to improve balance and bring peace to the mind which is of course the most important part of the whole process. I designed a yoga course that fits in here perfectly, check it out by clicking the link below or in my bio!

You were never meant to slow down post menopause, you were meant to evolve.

You’ve raised the kids and/or you’re retired or are coming to the end of your career but whatever your situation, you have the choice to pick you now, to choose what is best for you and your physical and mental wellbeing.

Is it challenging? Is it even hard? I hope so! That means you are stretching and growing in ways that you had probably stalled out on when you put yourself on the back burner! It won’t always feel hard, just while you recognize when you follow old patterns again, you pause and choose you again.

This time of our lives is amazing, fun, exciting and full of adventure when you decide to go for it! Need some help with that confidence? I got you!

Who stopped you from following your dreams? Did you get really excited about something in your past and then when you wanted to go for it someone stopped you? Someone squelched your excitement and directed you to what they thought you should do instead?

It was my ex husband in my case. It happened “for" me and while it has been hard to recover from it, I also know it is part of my journey, part of my forgiveness lessons. I had to really feel and hold the anger and blame in me for a long time about not following my dream to become a nurse in order to realize how I would use that anger to grow and evolve.

We all have a path and being a nurse wasn’t mine.

Owning a health club for only women, one where they could come and find a supportive community that understood their needs to become strong and empowered. That was my job and I loved it even though I mourned not getting to go to nursing school and felt angry about that for 40 years! Wow, now that’s a grudge! I have since forgiven that but it has taken a while.

What is it for you? What sits there festering in your heart still that you haven’t yet moved on from? I think we all have at least one of those things. Think about it, it’s surely effecting your life. Is it time to take it out and play with it? I’m grateful I have been. Without that, the healing can never begin. The work is worth the effort and I think these posts are the start of my healing.

Join me here again soon. The forgiveness continues.

Detachment is that nothing owns you. You are able to see things in life and even feel things like sadness, frustration, anger etc., but it doesn’t consume you. You are able to control your emotions and keep your joy intact.

Do you have things in your life that are limiting your peace and happiness? As we get older we are blessed to be growing wiser. We realize that allowing the negative, drama to enter our life, we lose precious time that we want to enjoy in this lifetime.

Practicing detachment is practicing yoga off the mat, (and often on the mat!). Seeing something that you used to respond with drama and now letting it “roll off your back” and moving on, this is detachment.

You get to Enjoy life more.

We reflect outward how we feel inward! When you are practicing yoga and you’re going into a standing balance pose and you keep wobbling or falling, it’s because your body is expressing your inner state of mind.
Seriously! In yoga, when you slow down and calm your mind, you focus inward rather than focusing on outside distractions, move slowly and pay attention to your movement and engagement, you will use all the right muscles and stick a balance. When your mind is wandering, you have no focus and you’re just moving into a pose with no real thought, you will fall out of it, to some extent almost every time.
This is life in general. When we try to do five different things at once, we do five different things half ass. When we slow down and focus on doing one thing at a time, we can do it really well. It’s the same in yoga, it’s the same in relationships, it’s the same in spirituality, meditation, wellness, etc..
We have to learn to slow down in this life. Some people grow up and are taught that multitasking is a good thing and they think they are “good at it”, this is BS! No one is good at multitasking, everything takes longer and the quality sucks.
Yoga teaches single minded focus, it teaches deep focused breath, slow movement, extended periods of holding a pose in order to build strength, confidence, balance and more.
