Colic isn't a diagnosis. It's a description.
It tells you your baby is crying inconsolably for hours. What it doesn't tell you is why β€” or what to do about it.
Here's what we know: the vagus nerve regulates both the nervous system and the digestive system. When a newborn's nervous system is wound up from birth, the gut winds up too. Gas. Bloating. Reflux. Cramping. Hours of screaming that nothing seems to touch.
CranioSacral Therapy helps the nervous system downshift β€” gently, safely, without medication.
When the nervous system finds ease, the gut often does too. πŸ’™

This month's giveaway is a small Earth stress ball β€” and it's more intentional than it looks. 🌍
We're spending May exploring the gut, the Vagus Nerve, and the body as one whole connected system. Holding something in your hands actually activates that Vagus Nerve β€” the highway between your gut and your brain.
So hold the world. Breathe. Let your nervous system remember it's safe.
Trust your gut. Hold your world.

Can we talk about the Artemis mission for a moment?
Because it genuinely moved me.
✨ Christina Koch β€” more time in space than any other crew member. Over 330 days.
✨ Victor Glover β€” pilot, and the first Black American to travel to the moon.
✨ The mission is named for Artemis β€” ancient Greek goddess, twin of Apollo, protector of girls and women.
✨ The first time in human history we saw the far side of the moon.
And then there's Rise.
The official zero gravity indicator for the mission was a plush character designed by an 8-year-old named Lucas Ye from Mountain View, California β€” chosen from 2,600 submissions worldwide. The character depicted the moon wearing an Earthrise cap. 5.6 million names from around the world traveled to space with him.
He became so beloved during the mission that Commander Wiseman made sure he came home with the crew β€” something that was never part of the original plan.
In a world that can feel very heavy right now, I needed this story. Maybe you did too. πŸŒ•

Your body has been trying to tell you something β€” and it might start in your gut.

Digestive health is so much more than what you eat. It's connected to how you feel, how you think, how you sleep, and how you move through the world. That quiet rumble, that post-meal fog, that inexplicable mood shift β€” these aren't random. They're messages. This month at Well Pathways, we're exploring the remarkable conversation happening between your gut, your brain, and your body β€” and what it means for your overall well-being.

Stay tuned as Kelly and Paul each share their unique perspectives throughout the month. And if you haven't already, we'd love to have you join our community β€” subscribe to our newsletter at [wellpathways.com] for the full conversation delivered right to your inbox.

Spring has a way of nudging us back outside β€” back into the rhythm of moving slowly and paying attention. Tomorrow evening, Kelly will be leading the monthly labyrinth walk in Boulder City, and you're welcome to come just as you are.

Walking the labyrinth is a simple practice. One path in, one path out. No directions to follow, no right way to do it. Just a chance to set down whatever you've been carrying and let your feet do something your mind often can't β€” find a natural pause.

These walks are free and open to anyone looking for a quiet reset in the middle of a busy season. We'd love to see you there tomorrow.

Something I am noticing in many of the bodies I have my hands on right now β€” The Tuck. The sacrum has pulled forward. Inward. Almost toward the belly button, as if the whole pelvis is trying to disappear into itself.

What I feel in that pattern is protection. We are living in a world shifting at a pace our nervous systems were never designed to sustain. And when the body doesn't feel safe with the speed of that change, it does what it has always done. It tucks. It draws inward. It makes itself smaller, guarding the soft vital center β€” heart, lungs, belly.

This is ancient, intelligent survival wisdom. The problem is when it becomes the body's new normal. Over time that protective tucking creates a cascading tightness throughout every body system. Digestion. Circulation. Respiration. Everything becomes less mobile, less able to do its job with ease. Sometimes we become a little harder of heart. A little less open. Because our hearts and lungs are, quite literally, compressed.

Nearly 600 healthcare providers from around the world gathered last month with one shared belief:
You are not a machine. And your health cannot be understood in pieces.

When your lived experience doesn't match what the research says should be happening in your body β€” you are not wrong. You are the most important data point in the room.

What would it feel like to be truly listened to β€” not managed, not explained away, but heard β€” by someone on your healthcare team?
That's the world we're working toward. One session, one conversation, one brave question at a time. πŸ’™

🌿 The Earliest Intervention Is the Kindest One 🌼

If epigenetics tells us that stress patterns can be passed forward through generations, it also tells us something quietly radical: Those patterns can be interrupted. And the earliest opportunity to do that is at the very beginning of life.

CranioSacral Therapy for infants supports the nervous system before it has had years to compensate, brace, and adapt around held tension. Before the patterns become habitual. Before the body learns that bracing is just how life feels.

A few gentle sessions in those early weeks and months can make a profound difference β€” in feeding, in sleep, in how a baby relates to touch, to sound, to the world around them. We are not fixing anything. We are simply creating the conditions for a nervous system to feel safe enough to settle. And that is everything. 🌿

The Connection the VA Needs to See

🌟 You know your service changed you. You feel it every day. But feeling it and proving it β€” in the language the VA requires β€” are two very different things.

🌟 A nexus letter is a medical document that establishes the connection between your current health condition and your military service. It's one of the most important pieces of evidence in a VA disability claim, and it needs to be thorough, precise, and grounded in your full health history.

🌟 At Well Pathways, Paul Kapsar APRN brings both clinical expertise and deep respect for what you've carried. He understands how chronic stress, trauma, and the physiological demands of service show up in the body β€” and how to articulate that connection clearly and compellingly.

🌟 Kelly Kapsar, LMT offers CranioSacral Therapy and somatic bodywork that helps your nervous system find its way back to safety β€” session by session, layer by layer.
Your service deserves to be fully seen. Your health challenges deserve to be fully documented.

🌟 We're here to help make that happen. πŸ’™πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Are you a veteran navigating your health and wellness journey? Visit our website to subscribe to the Well Pathways newsletter β€” practical insights and holistic care, delivered every week.

The Tiger Isn't Real. But Your Body Thinks It Is.
When the danger is physical β€” when the tiger is real β€” your body floods with cortisol, adrenaline, and insulin. You run. You survive. The hormones fulfill their purpose and dissipate. The body returns to balance.
But when your thoughts are the source of the stress?
The body launches the exact same response β€” and then has nowhere to put it. The hormones linger. The switches stay on. And over time, that creates a very different kind of damage than our ancestors ever had to navigate.
Chronic worry. Chronic urgency. Chronic reaching for something sweet to soothe what the body cannot name.
This is not weakness. This is biology responding faithfully to the world you're living in.
The question isn't what's wrong with you. The question is β€” what happened, and what might help? πŸ’™

In Ghana, no one grieves alone. A researcher at a recent integrative medicine conference shared that after a significant loss, she was not permitted to eat alone. Not permitted to sleep alone. Someone slept beside her for a week β€” so that her grief would not become too heavy a burden to carry. I haven't stopped thinking about that.
Here, we're often expected to be strong. To grieve privately. To return, composed, to the world. And then we wonder why β€” months later β€” our digestion is off, our anxiety has spiked, our back has started aching for no apparent reason.
The body speaks. And it keeps it louder when it keeps at it alone.
Community isn't a luxury. It's medicine. Belonging isn't a soft skill. It's a biological need.
Who is beside you right now? 🀍
