What are you glad you said "Yes" to?

It can be quite a list, but I am grateful I said yes to

πŸ’ͺ Opportunities to grow under challenges. Although in the midst we might think differently.

πŸ«‚ Finding growth with my fellow sisters in the career instead of just competition.

πŸ’—The honor to mentor others into positions they desired and worked hard to achieve. Even if it was learning by my mistakes.

πŸ’‘Following and supporting ideas that were unique and far from status quo - they often becoming the most successful.

What about you, what are you glad you say YES to

Next week we can look at what we say "No" to.

Who says you outgrow your girlhood because of your career? πŸ’•

You can be fearless and still be in your girlhood.

You can wear the uniform and love getting dressed up.
Handle the hard calls and still love a girls’ night.
Lead the room and still laugh until your stomach hurts.
Be strong, independent, and badass… and still be soft, silly, playful, and YOU. ✨

Your career may shape you, but it doesn't have to take away the girl inside you.

Never apologize for keeping a little girlhood magic alive. πŸ’•βœ¨

Be fearless. Be feminine. Be fun.
Be Beautiful. Be Brave. Be Resilient.

Man things can be heavy πŸ’ͺπŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

What are you carrying that is not yours?

Opinions
Judgement
Expectations from strangers
Responsibility for the emotions of others

What else do you carry that is not yours?

Lighten the load, we have enough to carry as first responders...be discerning about the weight you are allowing to be placed on your shoulders.

In the midst of living our amazing lives....

We often forget to take care of the woman living it,
Don't forget to show yourself gratitude and grace.

You deserve it, you have worked to build your life, sacrificed to be where you are, continue to strive because there is so much ahead of you.

Take a moment to appreciate all you have done, pause to prepare for the future that awaits.

You are doing great! Stay Beautiful.Brave.Resilient

Oh how I love being a women.

I always here Shania Twain's song, "Man! I Feel Like a Woman", in the background at these moments. 🎡🀠

Wanna make some noise, really raise my voice
Yeah, I wanna scream and shout
No inhibitions, make no conditions
Get a little outta line
I ain't gonna act politically correct
I only wanna have a good time
The best thing about bein' a woman
Is the prerogative to have a little fun

Let's go girls!!

There are so many... What powerful song do you hear?

This is for all the female first responders in the beginning of their careers.....who am I fooling it is for all stages of our careers. πŸ˜€

1. Always stay authentic. Don't change who you are to fit in.
2. The badge is not your entire identity. It can certainly feel like it is all consuming, but that's what hobbies are for...and boundaries.
3. Find a mentor, and then yep, become a mentor
4. Develop relationships with those who can and will support your overall well being both on and off duty. Relationships cannot be just co-workers.
5. Protecting your peace is part of your job. It can be a long, tough career - but you are tougher!

Some things haven't changed.

Our heart to serve and protect the community

The constant desire to learn and evolve as our jobs change.

The strong family within first responder fields

The pride and honor to represent the various badges we wear.

The continued fortitude and resilience responders show every day.

What are things you feel should not change?

Change can be a great and necessary thing, even when it makes us uncomfortable.

We can get stuck in places and with environments that are not longer able to let us grow.

If you are too comfortable and haven't been able to grow it is time:

Join a new community
Expand your knowledge
Find a new experience that brings you joy
Take the leap to a new position or promotion

When you do give yourself time to adapt, let your roots expand and deepen, stay hydrated and enjoy the new view!
