Two Appliances. Two Purposes. One Goal: Better Breathing and Better Health.
At Rawa Dental Sleep Medicine, we use two very different types of oral appliances, each designed to improve health in a unique way.
🦷 Mandibular Advancement Oral Appliances (Adult Sleep Appliances)
These custom devices are worn during sleep and gently reposition the lower jaw forward to help keep the airway open. They are an effective treatment option for many patients with:
• Snoring
• Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)
• Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
For patients who cannot tolerate CPAP or are looking for an alternative, oral appliance therapy can be life-changing.
👶 Oral Myofunctional Appliances (Growth & Development Appliances)
These appliances are designed for growing children and focus on proper oral and facial development. Rather than simply straightening teeth, they help guide the growth and development of the craniofacial respiratory complex by encouraging:
• Nasal breathing
• Proper tongue posture
• Healthy jaw development
• Improved oral habits
• Better airway development
When used as part of a comprehensive airway-centered approach, these appliances may help address underlying factors associated with mouth breathing, sleep-disordered breathing, and improper facial growth.
At Rawa DSM, we believe that healthier breathing leads to healthier lives. Whether we are helping an adult sleep better at night or helping a child develop a healthier airway for the future, our focus is always on treating the person—not just the teeth.
