Today is Father’s Day in the US! My father was a Christian, a businessman, an army veteran, a pilot, a singer, a guitarist, and a piano player—among other things!
He wasn’t perfect – – especially in his later days when dementia took over – – but he was undeniably generous.
Here’s one of many examples:
One week before I moved to Brazil, a well-known retired black pastor walked up to me in a restaurant and said in a loud voice, “I LOVED YOUR DADDY!”
He continued, “When I graduated seminary, I didn’t have two nickels to rub together. I didn’t have any decent clothes and I couldn’t afford anything in your daddy’s store. Do you know what your daddy did? He GAVE me two suits! I’ll never forget that man!”
Neither will I, Reverend Price. Neither will I.
