Treatments are specific to the individual and focused on empowering the patient to improve quickly. Dr. Perkins has worked at some of the earliest pioneering health & wellness facilities in the PNW. He helped grow NW Sports Rehab & Elite Sports and Spine prior to starting his own clinics. Dr. Perkins opened Summit in 2015 and set out on his own with the goal of creating a facility where he could h

elp people resolve their injuries and empower them along the way. We've now moved to UT to be closer to family after 14 amazing years in WA and can't wait to get to know and serve you here in Utah County.

Shockwave therapy delivers focused acoustic energy directly into the tissue — triggering a cellular healing response that most passive treatments never reach. ⚡

At Summit, we offer three forms: radial shockwave for broader soft tissue treatment, focused shockwave for precise deep tissue targeting, and EMTT (Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy) for non-contact cellular stimulation at depth.

For chronic tendinopathies like Achilles, patellar, and rotator cuff pathology, plantar fasciitis, calcifications, and stubborn scar tissue that has failed to respond elsewhere — shockwave is frequently the intervention that finally initiates real repair.

The mechanism: acoustic waves disrupt the chronic healing arrest that keeps injured tissue in a non-healing state, increase local blood flow, and stimulate the growth factors your body needs to complete the repair process.

Pair this with focused rehab that's directed specifically for your injury and results take place. Ready to recover and heal?

The goal was never just to feel better in the clinic. It was to feel powerful everywhere else. 💪

Whether you’re pursuing a PR, summiting something steep, or just trying to get through a full week of training without something flaring up — that’s what Summit is here to protect and restore.

Dr. Perkins and Nicholas Hawkes built this clinic for people who refuse to accept "just manage it" as an answer. The tools, the expertise, and the philosophy here are built around one outcome: moving freely, performing fully, and living the active life Utah offers.

If your pain keeps coming back, the cycle isn't bad luck. It's an unresolved root cause showing up on a schedule. 💭

Most recurring pain follows a pattern: a movement fault creates chronic tissue loading, which creates sensitization, which lowers the threshold for the next flare-up. Rest helps temporarily. The pattern continues.

At Summit Sports and Spine, we address both sides of that loop. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy increases oxygen delivery at the tissue level, accelerating cellular repair where chronic inflammation keeps interrupting the healing cycle. Active rehab retrains the loading pattern that keeps triggering each episode. Address the physiology and the mechanics together, and the cycle breaks.

Pair it with other modalities like Shockwave as well and see even quicker improvements.

Shin splints, runner’s knee, IT band pain — most of these aren’t training volume problems. They’re mechanics problems. 🏃‍♀️

Three form cues that reduce injury risk immediately:

Land under your center of mass — Foot strike should occur beneath the hip, not in front of it. A foot that lands ahead of the body acts as a brake and drives impact force upward through the knee and hip with every stride.

Lean from the ankle, not the waist — A slight forward lean is efficient. That lean should come from the ankle with the body in a straight line — not from bending at the waist, which loads the lumbar spine and disrupts propulsion.

Shorten your stride, increase your cadence — Overstriding is the most common mechanical fault in recreational runners. Increasing cadence by 5–10% reduces braking force and dramatically lowers injury risk over distance.

Sequential compression therapy does three things your cool-down run can’t: it actively flushes metabolic waste from the tissue, reduces post-training swelling, and accelerates the circulatory recovery that determines how you feel going into your next session. 🦵

Rapid Reboot compression boots are available at Summit as part of the recovery toolkit — not an add-on, but a standard tool for patients who train hard and need their body to respond accordingly.

Runners, lifters, CrossFitters, and anyone logging serious volume: this is how your body resets.

Stretching a dysfunctional pattern doesn't fix it. It makes a more flexible version of the problem. 💪

Passive flexibility gives you range. It doesn't give you the neuromuscular control to use that range under load without the same pattern breaking down again. That's why some athletes stretch consistently, stay limber, and keep getting hurt in exactly the same way.

At Summit Sports and Spine, Functional Range Systems and DNS are used to retrain how your nervous system stabilizes through movement, building active control at end range, not just passive access to it. Class IV laser runs alongside that rehab to accelerate tissue repair at the cellular level while the new pattern is being built.

This is what recovery that makes sense looks like.

Most neck tension doesn't start in the neck — it starts in the thoracic spine and compounds upward. 🧠

Forward head posture from screen time and training shifts the load from the thoracic segments onto the cervical spine. Over time, the upper traps guard, the suboccipitals tighten, and the neck starts doing work it was never designed to carry alone.

Three fixes that actually address the source:

Chin Tucks — Draw your chin straight back, not down. Hold 5 seconds, repeat 10 times. This directly deloads the cervical spine from forward head position and reactivates the deep neck flexors.

Wall Angels — Back flat against a wall, arms at 90 degrees. Slide overhead while keeping contact. 10 reps. Restores thoracic extension and trains the scapular mechanics that reduce cervical load.

Upper Trap Stretch — Ear toward shoulder, 30 seconds per side. Releases the suboccipital and upper trap tension that builds when the cervical spine is working overtime.

HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy) isn't just for elite athletes or specialized conditions. It's becoming essential for anyone serious about optimizing recovery. Breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber dramatically increases oxygen dissolved in blood plasma, reaching injured tissues, inflamed areas, and places with compromised circulation.

This increased oxygen accelerates tissue healing at cellular levels, reduces inflammation and swelling faster than natural processes, supports quicker recovery from injuries or surgeries, and helps with stubborn conditions that haven't responded to traditional treatments.

Athletes use it to bounce back from intense training faster. Post-surgery patients accelerate healing timelines. Anyone with chronic inflammation or slow-healing injuries finds HBOT gives their body the extra support to break through plateaus.

Current research is also pointing towards help with cognitive decline etc. Anyone with chronic inflammation or slow-healing injuries should find that HBOT provides the extra support needed to break through plateaus.

Sessions are relaxing and effective. Looking for an edge in recovery or stuck in a plateau? HBOT might be exactly what you need.

Your comeback story starts with one step. Not a giant leap. Not an overnight transformation. Just one intentional step forward. That first appointment where you finally address that pain you've been ignoring. That first exercise where you move without fear. That first day when you wake up and realize something actually feels better.

Movement has power beyond the physical. It heals your body, rebuilds confidence, proves you're capable of change, and reminds you that you're not broken beyond repair.

At Summit, we guide those steps. We help you understand what went wrong, build a plan to fix it, and give you tools to keep moving forward long after you leave. Whether recovering from surgery, managing chronic pain, or working back to sport, the path is the same: one step, then another. We are here to empower you!

Don't underestimate the power of starting. Your comeback begins when you decide you're ready.
