the APTA sold us a dream by 2020 and then left us holding the bill 🫠

vision 2020 promised PTs would be the primary care providers for musculoskeletal conditions. we’d be sought out first. respected. paid accordingly.

instead we’re still fighting for $1 reimbursements, buried in insurance prior auths, and burning out by year 3

I spent 9 years in outpatient ortho watching the gap between what we actually do and what we get paid grow wider every single year

so I stopped waiting for the profession to figure it out

I built a digital product. people pay for it, do it on their own, and I get paid whether i’m treating patients or not

no insurance. no productivity quotas. no ceiling.

16-17/30 raw + vulnerable: too many options

I ran a holiday sale thinking I was going to make 20k and I only made 5k 😭

Not that that’s not still great, but I truly thought giving my audience more options was going to equal more sales…that was further from the truth!

When you give them one option it takes the guesswork out, and all they have to think about is hitting “buy.”

Your audience will thank you for keeping it simple!!

nobody told me this before I signed up for 7 years of school and six figures of debt 😅

the DPT degree gave me so much. genuinely. but if I could go back and sit down with 21 year old me before she applied? I would show her these numbers first.

because the dream they sell you and the math behind it are two very different things.

11/30 raw + vulnerable: what do I do for a living?

Doctor. Practice owner. Those were easy. Clean. Socially acceptable answers that came with instant credibility.

Now? I genuinely stumble. And I’ve been doing this for years.

The weird part is it’s not imposter syndrome about the work itself. I know what I do. I know the impact it has. I know the business I’ve built.

It’s imposter syndrome about the label. Because the world still needs you to fit in a box before it decides whether to take you seriously.

But I’ve started to wonder if the people who can answer that question immediately are the ones who chose the safe path. The already-named path.

The awkward pause might just mean you’re doing something worth explaining.
