Solo is in the beginning stages of getting new prosthetic legs!

During his latest appointment, his prosthetist, Eric, created casts of Solo’s legs. Eric will scan the casts and make any needed adjustments and use them to help finalize the design of Solo’s new prostheses.

And this is only the first step! Follow along as we share more of the process and watch Solo’s new legs come together!

30 years of helping patients feel comfortable, confident and care for 🩷

This month, we're celebrating Beth, a certified recreational therapist, on her 30-year anniversary with Shriners Children's Lexington. Since beginning her career at our former Richmond Road facility in 1996, Beth has supported patients through procedures, surgeries and clinic visits using education, creativity, play and plenty of encouragement.

Her impact extends far beyond the clinic. Beth has helped make Camp Fez, Patient Prom, sports clinics and countless other special experiences possible, while also stepping into additional roles whenever her team needed support.

Congratulations, Beth, and thank you for three decades of teamwork, compassion and dedication to our patients and families.

Shriners Children’s Lexington patients and family members recently had some colorful, fizzy fun at Buff City Soap 🫧

Everyone had the opportunity to choose their favorite colors and scents before mixing and molding custom bath bombs to take home.

Arlo has a lot of “leggys.”

At 7 years old, the soon-to-be second grader can tell you all about them. There have been six prosthetic legs (or “leggys” as Arlo calls them) so far, each one a little different from the last. Some have cooler designs. Some have more advanced technology. All of them have helped him do what he loves most: just be a kid.

Whether he's rock climbing, playing golf, creating arts and crafts projects, or spending time with his friends and older brother, Arlo rarely slows down.

But when Arlo was born, his future felt much less certain.

We’ve been on a roll with graduations this week! Today, we spotlight Rebekah, a scoliosis patient who recently graduated from care.

Congrats, Rebekah 🥳

The 18-year-old received scoliosis care at Shriners Children’s Lexington and at one of our locations in California! Her journey has included bracing, surgery and years of support from the teams who helped her reach this incredible milestone.

Congrats, Ella 🥳

Ella has officially graduated from care! For the past five years, Ella has traveled from Marietta, Ohio, to Shriners Children’s Lexington for scoliosis care. Her journey included surgery, followed by continued care and support that helped her reach this exciting milestone.

The 18-year-old is starting college classes soon and is considering a future in occupational therapy. We’re proud of Ella and wish her all the best as she begins a new chapter 💚

Congrats, Jaycee 🥳

Jaycee has officially graduated from care! Born with clubfoot, Jaycee has been under the care of Vishwas Talwalkar, M.D., since she was just a baby, making the trip from Corbin to Shriners Children’s Lexington throughout her childhood. The compassionate care she received inspired her to pursue a future in orthopedics and the medical field so that she can one day help others the way she was helped.

Jaycee starts college this month, and we know she’ll accomplish amazing things. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your journey 🫶
