How is everyone in Ohio surviving the low air quality today?

This morning, my son went outside for just 5 minutes to let the dog out and came back in complaining that his lungs felt “funny” and it was a little hard to breathe.

Friends, this is Interoceptive awareness.

Kids aren’t born with a full understanding of what “normal” feels like in their bodies. Interoceptive awareness is something that is developed through experiences, demonstration and teaching.

Practice describing how things feel to your kiddos. Help them develop a vocabulary to be able to tell you when things don’t feel quite right. It is important for their future health and independence.

If you have more questions I can answer about interoception and how to help your kiddos develop strong sensory processing skills, don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
