Look at those smiles! For Community Health Improvement Week, our colleagues spent the morning weeding around raised beds at the Lincoln Community Garden Project. Their hard work not only beautified the space, but also improved accessibility, making it easier for volunteers and visitors of all abilities to enjoy the garden.

The LMH Wellness Trail is more than a place to recharge. It’s also a home for wildlife. Along the trail, you’ll find two purple martin houses, and across our campus, six nesting boxes that tree swallows and nuthatches have claimed over the past year.

Purple martins are known for their joyful calls and for helping control insects in the environments where they live. Once a purple martin establishes a home, its colony often returns year after year.

The LMH Wellness Trail was made possible through an investment from the Lincoln Memorial Foundation in 2016. Special thanks to Pamela Moriearty, Master Naturalist, for monitoring the nesting boxes and Joe Funk for placing and monitoring the purple martin houses.
