I'd like to share a caregiver's shift notes that I read today. "Shower day today. Gave Gene a shave. Electric razor wasn’t working so well. Did it the old fashioned way. Took all Gene’s clothes and started the washer. Vacuumed and mopped. I’ll always start a fresh pot of coffee for him before I depart. Gene decided to keep score for our poker game today. I’ll probably have to write him a check. It’s why I stay out of casinos. A really good day!"
When I first sit with a client, I let them know that our caregivers are the best in this business. That they can expect a "different" level of care. "Different", meaning special, involved, a friendship and that we really see YOU. Gene has dementia and when we first started caring for Gene, he mostly spent time sitting in front of the TV. Now, he's engaged, involved and he has a friend who really sees HIM.
