A heartfelt thank you to the Synod of the Sun for their generous grant to help Presbyterian Village bring livestreaming technology to our Chapel!

This gift will allow residents who are unable to attend in person to remain connected to worship, prayer, music, and other special moments, while also giving family and friends near and far the opportunity to join us.

Your legacy deserves a plan.

What happens when someone leaves behind a significant legacy, but no will?

Consider these well-known examples:

Martin Luther King Jr., 39
When Dr. King was assassinated in 1968, he left an estate worth about $250,000 but no will. More than 50 years later, his family is still dealing with disputes over his estate and even historic items such as his Nobel Peace Prize and family Bible.

Jimi Hendrix, 27
Hendrix died without a will in 1970. His estate, worth about $20,000 in 1979, became the subject of legal battles that lasted more than 30 years, with additional disputes continuing for decades as its value grew to an estimated $175 million.

Aretha Franklin, 76
When the Queen of Soul died in 2018, she left an estate worth as much as $80 million, but no will. Her family faced years of legal complications involving her four sons, other relatives and millions of dollars in taxes.

Their stories are a powerful reminder: Estate planning isn't just about what you leave behind. It's about making your wishes clear, protecting the people you love and deciding how you want your legacy to live on.
