We often forget how nutrition can impact our financial health. Saving money can also hugely incentivize people to lean more into their health.
With this financial health lens in mind, I compared an Rxbar āOat & Honey barā to some homemade peanut butter oat bars made with oats, peanut butter, honey, eggs, chia, and chia seeds.
Hereās why the homemade version stands out. Yes the Rxbar can be a convenient grab and go option. But hereās the catch.
The homemade bars came out to about: $0.42ā$0.47 per bar
Compared to: $1.70ā$2.50 per Rxbar
Is that convenience worth over an additional $2.00 per bar?? Thatās an extra $20 per batch š„“
You will only spend a small portion of one day making your homemade bars and you still have the convenience of a healthy, delicious bar to grab on the go! So turn on some music and make it happen!
Beyond being about 1/4 the cost, the homemade version has:āØ- More fiber for fullness and digestionāØ- Lower sodiumāØ- Less processed ingredientsāØ- Healthy fats and omega-3s from chiaāØ- Great for meal prepāØ- STILL portable and convenient
This is one of my favorite examples of realistic nutrition:āØNot perfection. Just simple habits that save money, improve nutrition, and make healthy eating easier during a busy week.
