Did you know one little name in the Bible carries an entire testimony?

Manasseh.

When Joseph held his firstborn son for the very first time, he didn’t choose a family name or the name of a great leader.

He chose a name that told his story.

“Joseph named his firstborn Manasseh and said, ‘It is because God has made me forget all my trouble and all my father’s household.’”
Genesis 41:51

Now don’t misunderstand what Joseph meant.

God didn’t erase his memory.

Joseph still remembered the pit.
He remembered being betrayed by his own brothers.
He remembered slavery.
He remembered prison.
He remembered all those years when it looked like God had gone silent.

The memories didn’t disappear.

The pain just stopped being in charge.

Can I tell you something?

I think that’s one of the sweetest miracles God performs.

Sometimes we’re begging Him to erase the chapter, while He’s quietly redeeming it.

The Hebrew name Manasseh means to cause to forget or to let go.

Not because it never happened.

But because it no longer owns you.

That’ll preach.

Some of y’all know exactly what I’m talking about.

You can remember what happened without reliving it.

You can tell your story without crying through every sentence.

You can even thank God for how He met you there.

That’s healing.

Joseph wasn’t celebrating what his brothers did.

He was celebrating what God had done.

God didn’t waste one prison cell.
Not one tear.
Not one lonely night.

He was writing a bigger story all along.

Isn’t that just like our Father?

We spend so much time staring at the chapter we’re in that we forget He’s the Author holding the whole book.

Maybe you’ve got your own Egypt.

A betrayal.
A divorce.
A diagnosis.
Waiting for a diagnosis while worried.
A dream that never happened.
A grief that still catches you off guard when you least expect it.

Sweet friend, don’t lose heart.

The same God who walked Joseph through the pit, the prison, and the palace is walking with you too.

One day you’ll look back and begin to recognize His fingerprints all over the chapters you thought He’d abandoned.

And when that day comes, your testimony won’t be, “Look what happened to me.”

It’ll be…

“Look what God brought me through.”

That’s your Manasseh.

Not a life without scars.

A life where your scars no longer speak louder than God’s faithfulness.

Because healing isn’t God pretending your past never happened.

Healing is God proving that your past doesn’t get the final word.

The outcome does.

Let me tell you something God’s been talkin’ to me about lately…

Some of us are waiting to praise God until we see the answer.

But praise was never meant to be reserved for the finish line.

Did you know the word praise comes from the Latin word pretium, meaning value or worth? When we praise God, we’re declaring His worth. We’re saying, “Lord, You are worthy because of who You are, not just because of what You’ve done for me.”

That changes everything.

Praise isn’t simply a response to the manifestation of a promise. It’s a response to the revelation of God’s character.

When God reminds you that He is faithful…
Praise Him.

When He whispers peace into your anxious heart…
Praise Him.

When you remember that He’s never failed you yet…
Praise Him.

Throughout Scripture, we see people bursting into praise because they caught a glimpse of God’s greatness. Their circumstances hadn’t always changed, but their perspective had. They recognized the One who held the outcome.

The world may be shaking. Your circumstances may still feel uncertain. The battle may not be over.

But the earth is still full of the glory of God.

When you step into praise, you’re choosing to fix your eyes on His worth instead of your worry. And something begins to happen. Your heart softens. Your faith strengthens. His presence becomes more real than your fear.

So don’t wait until the victory is visible.

Praise Him because He’s worthy.
Praise Him because He’s faithful.
Praise Him because He’s already gone before you.

And if the Lord puts joy in your heart, don’t be afraid to express it. Lift your hands. Sing. Dance. Pray. Kneel. Rejoice.

Sometimes your breakthrough begins the moment your praise does.

Sometimes you have to keep on praising Him until you see it.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!” - Psalm 150:6

Today, let’s stop waiting for the promise to appear before we honor the Promise Keeper.

If you enter His gates with thanksgiving and praise in your heart, you are going to feel His glory! You can’t break into praising Him without being filled with His presence.

Try it today! Try a seven day, consistent and continual praise. Praise him for a week and see what God can do!

A dear friend of mine from high school lost her dad recently, after having already lost her mom. I made it a point to check in with her after all the food stopped coming and the celebration of his life was complete.

She welcomed me checking in with her regularly to do a bit of a pulse check on her grief process. I kept it weekly for a bit but last week she went to say her goodbyes to her dad’s house, as they prepared for the sale of it, and the familiar vacation places she and her daughter have gone together for years while visiting her parents, and then just her dad. This time I skipped a week and then dropped a message yesterday, as she got back to the “daily grind,” when the whole world seems to have gone back to its normal pace, but the grievers still cannot make sense of how that’s possible.

She said “you’re always so spot on with your commentary,” because what I described is right where she is now.

I responded and found myself unintentionally waxing poetic about grief yet again, because it is its own dark kind of poetry.

I thought I’d share my words about it with you. You who may be grieving someone yourself….

“I’m only ‘spot on’ from living it,” I said. “I know those feelings intimately. Grief and I have spent time together, ruminated over the unfairness of it all, kept each other company. I’ve learned that Grief never grows smaller, we just learn to grow a life around it that pads it a bit and keeps it from shrieking so loudly. We buffer it with noise and activity, kind of like keeping a toddler too busy for temper tantrums. But it refuses to shrink and it still insists on sneaking around our carefully held barriers just to show up and show out sometimes. It is both a nuisance…and a constant companion you get used to, like old shoes that used to rub blisters on your feet and now just seem to fit in all the places they’re supposed to…even if they were shoes you never would have bought for yourself and you find them ugly to look at. But still, we eventually find a sort of companionship with it because no one else really fully understands it like we do. Even if someone else has a similar loss, rarely do they have a similar relationship with that loss. Others well-acquainted with Grief walk around, nod because they recognize your companion, the thing attached to you, but refuse to speak lest their own comes flying out to shake hands and wreak havoc. So mostly we walk alone, always waiting for the day we might say goodbye to this source of heaviness. And if we ever do, I fear we may miss the attachment we’ve grown so accustomed to that there is an emptiness there that will miss the emptiness that was Grief. It’s quite a conundrum. I do hope yours moves along more quickly, since we expect parents to go before us? But I don’t know if missing my dad (my step-dad, but my dad since I was 19 years old, nonetheless) is quieter now because of time, or because it has been waylaid by a different kind of loss that carried a sharper sword.

I think of you often, my friend. It’s funny how hearts call to hearts with shared pain, like the saddest whale song you could ever hear.

I truly am okay, though, sweet friend, and usually I’m sure I sound more chipper. Knowing you hurt brings mine to the surface, only because I always hate to think of others walking the same path. It’s a lonely one, but I’d still rather walk it by myself than to know even one other person has to travel it, too. 💔❤️‍🩹”

Neurolinguistic programming was supported by God’s foundations principles before neuroscience ever figured it out.

I use NLP in many of my coaching client session plans. It is a technique used my many therapists, counselors, and life coaches.

But my teaching of this principle will always be scripture-guided and centered.

This is just one area where science supports what God said all along. 💖

Introducing Client Kindness Fridays 🤍

Not every week but maybe every 2-3 weeks on Fridays, I’d like to begin sharing a few words from the people I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside.

Not because I want to draw attention to myself, but because I know how difficult it can be to reach out for help in the first place.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the coaching.
It’s making that first phone call.

If you’ve ever wondered…

“Will she understand?”
“Will I feel judged?”
“Will this actually help?”

…my hope is that hearing from real clients will answer those questions better than I ever could.

I consider it one of the greatest honors of my life to walk with people through anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, life transitions, and seasons when they simply feel stuck.

Every story shared here is posted with gratitude for the trust my clients have placed in me.

If even one review gives someone the courage to take that first step toward hope, healing, and growth, then it’s worth sharing.

Thank you to every client and family who has trusted Radiant Grace Mental Health Coaching with a chapter of your story.

I don’t take that privilege lightly. 🤍

“It turns out that, annoyingly, grief has a way of hiding inside places you don’t discover until someone tries to love you there.” Blog Post Quote ~ God is in the Outcome

One of the biggest misconceptions about grief is that functioning means healing.

It doesn’t.

In this article I share what I learned after widowhood about trauma, the nervous system, faith, and why surviving loss is very different from recovering from it.

This isn’t just a story about dating after becoming a widow.

It’s also an apology of sorts…

And then, it’s also become part of my testimony of how God continues to work on me and in me. ❤️‍🩹

After losing my husband, I thought I was ready to love again. It turns out I wasn’t. This is the story of how God has since revealed the hidden places grief was still holding captive, and how survi…
