If your child is struggling to read, it’s natural to wonder: Is this dyslexia?
The answer isn’t always straightforward.
“Reading difficulties” describes what a child is experiencing. But it doesn’t tell us why reading is difficult.
Dyslexia is one possibility—but attention, language processing, anxiety, learning differences, educational experiences, and other factors can also affect reading.
That’s why two children with similar reading scores may need very different kinds of support.
A comprehensive evaluation looks beyond a single score to understand the patterns behind a child’s struggles, identify their strengths, and help families and educators determine what support may be most helpful.
We break down the difference between reading difficulties and dyslexia—and when it may be time to consider testing—in our latest blog.
