‼️Our Office is Moving ‼️

Just 20 feet downstairs 🤣

This has been a long time coming. I started my business from a 90 sq ft room in a physical therapy office back in January 2019 in Rancho Palos Verdes with my laptop and my portable table, while working as an independent contractor at another office, and doing mobile services in LBC and OC. The PT office decided that they need my room for another PT and gave me a 3 day notice to move out… just a week before my birthday in 2020.

Found my current office space in one day and moved in the day before my birthday on October 1, 2020. It was 4-5 times bigger than the previous office space but it was a challenge for some of my patients to find my office since it was hidden in the corner upstairs. I even had to turn down some patients because they were on a wheelchair - we don’t have an elevator. I didn’t have any visibility other than social media.

In the past 6 years in this office, we went through a pandemic which actually helped me grow my business, and my wife and I welcomed our two beautiful daughters into this world. I also worked at the VA in Santa Ana part time as one of the first chiropractors there.

Starting on May 1, 2026, my business will have a sign outside which you can see from the 405 North Cherry St exit, and it’ll be almost double the space from my current office space. We will have a waiting area, front desk, and exercise area where patients can do their prescribed exercises while waiting for their appointment! 😭 And most of all, my office will be downstairs and will have a handicap access! And we have our own bathroom!!! Please spray if you have to 💩

There’s a lot of work to do but I am beyond excited for this new opportunity. Thank you to everyone who supported me. Some of you stuck through with me since the RPV/Wilmington days! And to those who talked sh*t about me and didn’t support me - thank you! As my favorite athlete MJ once said, “I took it personally” and it gave me the fuel to get better each day 😜 🤣

My office address will be updated on my profile on 5/1/26. DM me if you have any questions and hope to see you soon!

P.S. I will most likely have an awesome intern soon 😜

Happy New Year, NEC Fam!

Hope your 2026 is starting off great. As for me, I have been working out more regularly at 5am (well except for this week due to certain circumstances) and staying busy at work.

I hope you’re taking good care of yourself but if you are experiencing physical pain, nip it in the bud and come see us so that your pain doesn’t get worse! The pain usually just won’t go away, and it will come back especially if you had this ache/pain before!

We’ll treat you, discover the root cause, and help you strengthen your body by prescribing some easy yet effective home exercises! And if that’s not enough, we have some GREAT physical therapists that we can refer you to.

If you’re not in pain, good for you and keep up the great work!

FYI, we accept most major insurances - at this time, we are not taking Covered California or Medi-Cal.

DM us if you have any questions! This is just an informational post and will start posting more soon. Stay tuned!

Throwback

The first photoshoot I did was during the pandemic! Can’t believe it’s been over 5 years already.

A quick thing about adjustments - adjustments work, but it’s what you do afterwards that matters the most. Make sure your chiro gives you at least one movement or exercise to do for homework.

More you move and take care of yourself, less you have to come see me 😉

Hey NEC Fam!

I wanted to go over the chiropractic benefits for your health insurance that might be helpful for you. This post is intended for the Southern California people.

Some of you may have Medi-Cal or Covered California. Most chiropractic offices (including ours) do not accept these insurances unfortunately.

However, our office DOES accept most major health insurances. Every insurance has different coverage so let’s go over that right now.:

• American Specialty Health - Some of the health insurances fall under this company American Specialty Health (ASH). And if they do, chances are your insurance will ONLY cover your exams and adjustment. Here’s the list of insurance companies that fall under ASH:
- Aetna HMO
- ***Blueshield HMO and SOME Blueshield PPO - SOME Blueshield PPO (NOT HMO) will cover ONE other modality such as Myofascial Release/Therapeutic Exercises/Therapeutic Activities
- Cigna
- Health Net
- Kaiser - Some Kaiser patients DO NOT have chiropractic benefits. Please contact us to check your benefits and eligibility.
- SCAN Medicare

If you do want to get more care than just adjustment, there is an extra out of pocket fee. If you have any questions on that, please feel free to contact us.

The following insurances will cover exams, adjustments, and other modalities such as therapeutic activities and exercises and Myofascial Release:
- Aetna PPO
- Anthem Bluecross PPO
- Blueshield Federal Employee Program (FEP) and SOME Blueshield PPO
- Government Employees Health Association (GEHA)
- Surest
- TriWest (Veteran’s Health Insurance)

The below will cover adjustment and other modalities EXCEPT the exams:
- United Medical Resources (UMR)
- United Health Care

The MediCare will NOT cover exams or other modalities other than adjustment so the patient will have to pay the initial exam fee for the first appointment and there is an additional fee for other modalities and this is optional.

If you have any questions regarding your deductible, co-insurance, or co-payment, please contact us. (The rest of the post is cont’d below in the comment)

Step-by-Step Guide to Perform a Chin Tuck

Chin tucks can be performed while standing or sitting. Here is a simple way to do chin tucks for a beginner:

1️⃣ Sit upright and look straight ahead with the ears directly over the shoulders.
2️⃣ Place a finger on the chin.
3️⃣ Without moving the finger, pull the chin and head straight back until a good stretch is felt at the base of the head and top of the neck. (There should now be some separation between the chin and finger.)
4️⃣ Hold for 5 - 10 seconds if possible.
5️⃣ Bring the chin forward again to the finger.
Repeat for a total of 10 times, or as tolerated.

💡In the beginning, it can help to have the finger as a point of reference. As the chin tuck becomes more comfortable to perform, it may no longer be necessary to hold up the finger.

💪🏽A modification of the chin tuck that further emphasizes strengthening of the deep neck flexor muscles is to apply resistance with a hand placed under the tucked chin and apply light downward pressure into the hand, using the 5-10 second hold time approach.

👇Tips to Perform Chin Tucks Throughout the Day

✅ It is recommended to perform 5 to 10 sets of 10 sec chin tucks in the course of each day. In addition to regularly stretching and strengthening the neck and upper back, performing chin tucks throughout the day can serve as a consistent reminder to use good posture.

✅Doing 10 sets of 5-10 second chin tucks just takes 1-2 min. Some examples of easy ways to fit a set of chin tucks into a busy schedule include:
- Morning routine. Whether it is between sips of coffee, after getting dressed, or before brushing teeth, chin tucks can be worked into a morning routine.
- Commute. It is still important to use good posture while driving a car, riding the train, or taking other modes of transportation. Doing a few chin tucks while waiting at some red lights can add up over time.
- Breaktime. Whether sitting at a desk or relaxing in a breakroom, chin tucks can help keep good posture top of mind.

There are many possible ways to fit 5 to 10 sets of chin tucks into a day. When starting out, it may help to think about the next day and plan for the best times to do chin tucks! 🤙🏽

Testimonial

⬇️ Read below ⬇️

This patient came in to see me due to a 6 yr long foot pain, and foot pain only. This patient saw a neurologist, podiatrist, and a few other healthcare professionals before she came and saw me but nothing showed on imaging and no one knew what to do.

I adjusted her hips, knees, ankles (talorcrural joint, calcaneus, cuboid, and metatarsals), did some soft tissue work on intermetataral muscles, and showed her some balance and hip/ankle stability exercises, and now the foot pain is reduced quite a bit!

“I have had an issue with my foot for over 6 years and for the first time, it is starting to feel better. He showed me stretching and exercises to do at home every other day and I feel it is helping my foot get stronger and dealing with the pain. He is more than just a chiropractor, he addresses your whole body. So, no matter your ailment, I would highly recommend Dr. Leo Matsumoto.”

Some chiros can do more than just crack your back 😉
