Understanding Lewy Body Dementia and Supporting the Care Partner

Wednesday, May 13, 2026
Noon to 1 p.m. • Virtual via Microsoft Teams

Do you ever feel like caring for a loved one with Lewy body dementia, or LBD, is something that those around you just can’t understand? Together, we will discuss how and why caring for a loved one with LBD is so different and challenging compared with other conditions. We also will talk about recent studies among LBD care partners that offer hope. Moderated by Gregory E. Cooper, M.D., Ph.D., director, Norton Neuroscience Institute Memory Center.

Guest speaker: Jori Fleisher, M.D., MSCE, FAAN, director, Rush University Medical Center Lewy Body Dementia Association Research Center of Excellence, Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Fleisher is a movement disorders neurologist and Associate Professor of Neurological Sciences at Rush University Medical Center. She directs the Lewy Body Dementia Association Research Center of Excellence, CurePSP Center of Care, and Rush Advanced Interdisciplinary Movement Disorders Supportive Care (AIMS) Clinic, and she co-directs the Rush Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence. Supported by the NIH, foundations, and philanthropy, Dr. Fleisher’s research focuses on designing and implementing novel models of care and support for people living with neurodegenerative disorders. She is the Principal Investigator of the PERSEVERE Trial, a first-of-its-kind entirely virtual, national, randomized controlled trial to educate and empower family care partners whose loved ones have Parkinson's or Lewy Body Dementia.
