Hi guys and gals, I'm excited that the fire department will be at our event, they will not have sirens or horn use because some of our guests might get overstimulated.

Good Morning Everyone,
I just want to share some thoughts with everyone. There are words that are not used in the disabled community, for good reason. But sometimes I hate using the word disabled, it's a label, no one is perfect, everyone has a little something they need help with. And we see things like "different ability" but that's still a label. We are the largest minority group and anyone could be part of it, should you have an accident or become impaired. We also have to think that someone with a chronic illness or the elderly become disabled as well.

Here are some words that are very negative that people might not know:

1: the "R", I don't even want to type it out!
2: Wheelchair Bound, I don't live in my chair I can get out of it.
3: Handicap, it's an old word that use to be whispered as a label.

Just a quick note, keeping the newsletters can help you plan for the day and can answer some questions you may have. I send them out in email and post here on Facebook. If you are not getting the monthly newsletter in your email please let me know because at this point most of our communication will start coming through that, for security reasons. Thanks everyone!
