Today is one of those days that reminded me exactly why I do this work.
I came across this event and realised it was happening right here in our 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙩 and I had no idea. That alone told me something.

As someone deeply involved in NGO mapping in the Northwest Region, an event of this scale happening in my backyard and flying under the radar? That got my attention immediately.

But there was something else. I already knew madam Fuhnukang Yvonne Mbah from out Tutors conner of Public Speaking, So I reached out to her not just out of curiosity, but to understand the health intervention her team was planning.

That is what I do. As Secretary of the District and In-Charge of Partnerships, showing up is part of the work.When I arrived at Alliance Française Bamenda, I went straight to the health desk 𝐍𝐨𝐭 to register, but to 𝙤𝙗𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚, 𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙗𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 to what was being done there. To add my own cent, as we say. And what I saw was impressive, the health Team had set up a proper health screening station blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, organised, professional, community-facing.

This was the Free Skills Training for Girls & Women organised by NEWOLEC Cameroon, in partnership with the Ministry of Arts and Culture, Ministry of Women Empowerment and the Family, STRESORS Cameroon, Alliance Française Bamenda, Vineyard Women, Children of Vision and Action (COVA), Shenwa Foundation, SIWOG, CIWED, and St Joseph Vocational Training Centre. A coalition doing real work.

And the skills being taught?

✅ Medicated Bathing Soap
✅ Shampoo
✅ Vaseline
✅ Menthol
✅ Ovaltine
I did not just observe. I also patronised what Madam Yvonne had produced because supporting women in business means buying what they make, not just applauding them.

And then I went a step further. I sponsored 10 members of 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙣 circle people within my own network to attend this training and walk away with their certificates.

Not strangers. My people. Because I believe that the most powerful investment you can make is in the people already around you.
That photo of them(Though not all) standing tall, holding those NEWOLEC certificates? That is not just a proud moment. That is a future taking shape. 💚

To Madam Yvonne and every partner involved, 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀. To my 5CAC attendees,go use what you learned. Build with it. Sell it. Teach it.

𝙄𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙧.

This week, I had the privilege of participating in the national mapping exercise of health sector partners (PTF) in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, as the Partnership Focal Point for the Bamenda Health District.

This initiative, led by the Division of Cooperation of the 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, is a landmark effort to map all technical and financial partners NGOs, civil society organizations, associations, and development actors operating across all 10 regions of Cameroon.

We had the honour of meeting incredible organizations on the ground, including Community Vision Group - CVG,

You have the wonderful privilege of being officially mapped, recognized, and acknowledged by the health authorities and the Ministry of Public Health at large. Being on the map means your work is visible, valued, and counted in national health planning. Reach out to your District Medical Officer today because your efforts deserve to be seen! 🙌

Every child deserves a healthy start and we showed up to make that happen.

From community health posts to school corridors, dedicated team hit the ground running, reaching families and little ones with life-saving vaccines. The smiles, the trust, and the tiny hands stretched out and this is why we do what we do.

A huge thank you to our incredible mobilizers, health workers, and partners who made this possible.

Together, we are proving every single day that Vaccination Saves Lives. 💙

𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙚 — 𝘼 𝙅𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙄 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙉𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙁𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩

I just returned from Singapore, and honestly, my heart is still full.

It didn't start the smoothest, at Douala Airport, I was asked to see the manager, questioned about my stay, and for a moment I wondered but then again I guess it's because my passport was Virgin, since the previous one with numerous stamps went missing. I stayed calm and just like that, the door opened. And from that moment on, everything was Grace.

Landing at Changi Airport felt like arriving in another world. The organisation, the cleanliness, the calm efficiency of it all, remarkable. But nothing prepared me for The 𝗝𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗹 that magnificent glass dome with a waterfall cascading 40 metres from the sky, surrounded by lush gardens right inside the airport.

I just stood there in awe. God truly shows off sometimes.
The city itself? Breathtaking. Visited 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘆 those iconic Supertrees by the waterfront, glowing against the evening sky with 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝘆 shimmering below. Explored Marina Bay Sands, strolled through vibrant local markets bursting with culture and flavour, and soaked in a city that somehow balances ultra-modern living with deep warmth.

Yes, Singapore is expensive I won't lie. But with a little wisdom, you find affordable gems everywhere. The hawker centres alone are worth the trip.

And speaking of gems — I stumbled upon an African restaurant, PharmsAfrican Kitchen, and it felt like a warm hug from home right in the middle of Southeast Asia. The food was everything.

But above everything, above the skylines and the airports and the beautiful places 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 "𝗣'𝘀". 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚, 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙. 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗡, 𝗪𝗘 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠𝗦, 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗪𝗘 𝗗𝗢 𝗜𝗧 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧??🌍

Today I want to share something that moved me deeply and I hope it moves you too🤷‍♀️🥰.

At the airport in Douala, I witnessed something that broke my heart. A young man, full of excitement and hope, stepped up to the immigration counter with a passport and travel documents prepared by an agent. The officer looked at his documents and said the words no traveler ever wants to hear: "𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥."

The look on that young man's face; hands on his head, dreams crushed in seconds, stayed with me long after I boarded my flight. 💔

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲? 𝐈 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝. 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐈 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧.

I myself have been scammed out of 12 million trying to travel. A childhood neighbor I trusted, linked me with an agent who filled my DS-160 (US visa application) with a DIFFERENT workplace, a DIFFERENT sponsor, DIFFERENT information none of it mine after given due Information and even a permission letter from my place of work. Despite being totally innocent, my visa was denied. I am still carrying that burden today, trusting God that one day I will be able to correct what was done and stand before that embassy with MY truth and a smiling outcome.

And that day in Douala? My OWN journey wasn't smooth either. Because my old passport filled with travel stamps and history went missing few months back, I had to get a new one. Immigration saw a "𝗻𝗲𝘄" passport and questioned whether I had ever traveled before. I almost missed my check-in running from director to director to prove myself. ME. Someone who has traveled many times.

So here is my message to every young person out there:

🚨 𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘. 𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗟𝗙.
🚨 𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗟𝗦 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗬.
🚨 𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡.

And before you hand anything to anyone VERIFY. Check every single detail on your forms. Cross-check your workplace, your sponsor, your dates, your purpose of travel. Read everything twice. Ask questions. A mistake on paper can cost you years of your life.

Our desperation to travel is making us easy targets for criminals. No agent is worth your money, your name, or your future. Do it the right way, even if it takes longer. Your integrity is your most valuable travel document.

You are pushing people into depression, anxiety and mental breakdowns that some of them never fully recover from.

The trauma is real. The sleepless nights are real. The shame of a visa denial stamped in a passport is real. 𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙖𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 because of what dishonest agents are doing to them.

If you have no fear of the law, at least have the fear of God. At least have a heart.

To those who are not ; it is never too late to change. Do better. People's lives are in your hands. Handle them with care.

On a brighter note: 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 🇸🇬, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗢𝗪. What a place. Clean, beautiful, welcoming people, and the Jewel at Changi Airport? Absolutely breathtaking. ✨ There is so much more I want to share about this experience. stay tuned because updates are coming!

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝑶𝐟 𝐚 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭. 𝐀 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐛𝐲 𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐍𝐀𝐅𝐀𝐖 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐦 Bride Ekoume Ndema Irene.

On May 5, 2026, a major stakeholders engagement meeting was held at the Women Empowerment Centre in Old Town Bamenda, alongside the sponsor organization and the vision bearer of the initiative Camnafaw Bamenda, as well as the immediate beneficiaries. This gathering was part of the continuous efforts under the Civil Society Strengthening Gender Inclusivity Project (PROSCIG), which is co-financed by the European Union and GIZ.

The primary goal of this meeting was to finalize income-generating activities (IGAs) for the beneficiaries. After thoughtful deliberation, the teams selected 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 as our priority livelihood activities.

Dedicated stakeholders, including community leaders, health officials(𝐈, 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭), and various organizations pledged their support in providing necessary resources such as workshop spaces, personal protective equipment, and financial assistance. Together, we were/are committed to empowering our community!

I had the opportunity to present a session on
𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞, where I emphasized its significance for our overall well-being. I encouraged everyone to take the initiative to register at their nearest health facility.

I was so happy to put fouth my contribution together with that of other stakeholders to make these initiatives successful! A vital participation indeed for a collective growth and empowerment.

Hello beautiful people,

Today, I am excited to take a moment to reintroduce myself. I am 𝗡𝗷𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮, a passionate nurse and the vision bearer of Care in Action Cameroon. At 28 years old, my journey has been driven by a deep commitment to health advocacy and empowering our youth to realize their full potential.

As the District Secretary and Focal Person for Reproductive Health and the in charge partnership at the District Health Service of Bamenda, I have dedicated my career to improving health outcomes and ensuring that young people have access to the resources they need to thrive. My academic background includes a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNS), and I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree, where I continue to expand my knowledge and expertise in public health.

In addition to my healthcare roles, I am honored to serve as a public health speaker, sharing insights that inspire change and encourage community engagement. My training as a Master of Ceremonies (MC) allows me to bring energy and enthusiasm to events, celebrating achievements and fostering connections among individuals and organizations.

Entrepreneurship is another passion of mine. I create and sell exquisite perfumes and exceptional mouth tasty salad creams made with lots of passion, blending creativity with business acumen. These ventures not only allow me to express my artistic side but also provide avenues for community support and connection.

I am proud to have received recognition for my work, including the Bamenda Alive City Award and the Peevee Magazine Award from DAZFOMBI Africa. These accolades inspire me to continue striving for excellence in all aspects of my life.

At Care in Action Cameroon, our mission is clear: we aim to empower young people to amplify their voices, embrace leadership, and actively participate in shaping their communities. We envision a vibrant future where youth are equipped with the tools and resources necessary to turn their ideas into reality.

Through our core objectives empowerment through leadership, support for initiatives, sourcing scholarship opportunities for young persons to apply, community engagement events, and fostering a supportive network. we are committed to cultivating a new generation of leaders ready to make a positive impact, not giving up till our best attempts are made.

The discussion focused on raising awareness and providing education about Type 1 Diabetes, a chronic autoimmune disease where the pancreas produces little to no insulin due to the immune system's attack on insulin-producing cells. This insulin deficiency leads to high blood sugar levels, requiring lifelong management through insulin therapy, blood sugar monitoring, nutrition, physical activity, and psychosocial support.

Key points covered during the session included:

• 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 : The main presenting signs are known as the "4 T's": Thirst, Tiredness, Toilet (frequent urination), and Thin (weight loss).
• 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Major complications associated with T1D include Diabetic Ketoacidosis and Hypoglycemia.
• 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝: Several myths about T1D were dispelled, including misconceptions that it is contagious, caused by sugar intake, or treatable solely with bitter herbs. It was emphasized that insulin is essential for managing T1D.
• 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 : The importance of not stigmatizing individuals living with T1D was highlighted. Education is crucial for prevention and early diagnosis, which can significantly reduce complications and improve quality of life.

Participants engaged with questions regarding the influence of physical activity on T1D management, the congenital nature of the disorder, daily living experiences for those affected, transmissibility, and prevention. It was clarified that T1D is not transmissible and cannot be prevented, although research is ongoing.

Additionally, newly introduced technology like the 𝐃𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐨𝐦 𝐆𝟕 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫 was discussed as a means to alleviate discomfort during insulin therapy.

The session concluded with a strong message about the importance of support for individuals living with T1D and the role of education in improving outcomes.

The vision bearer, encouraged everyone to spread the knowledge learned, thanked miss Forsuh Ble for her outstanding presentation and took out time to thank Reconciliation and Development Association -RADA and it's CEO Mr Ferdinant M. Sonyuy for impacting her with the knowledge which will go a long way to serve the community at large.

This session was a valuable opportunity for community members to learn more about Type 1 Diabetes and how to support those affected by it.
