Taking the first steps toward walking again can be intimidating, and many patients understandably have a fear of falling. That's why our Physical Therapy team recently focused on functional floor transfers, helping patients safely get to and from the floor while building confidence, strength, and independence.

Because in rehabilitation, it's not about if you fall...it's about learning how to rise to the challenge.

Join us for this month’s Moody in Motion, where we celebrate the incredible individuals who make a difference every day. Each month, we highlight a team member so you can get to know the people, passion, and purpose behind the work we do.

Song is from Fort Worth and serves as an Occupational Therapist on our clinical team at Moody Neuro Lubbock. Her journey with Moody began in the fall of 2022 as a graduate student clinician. She couldn't wait to return after graduation and officially joined our team in May 2023. She began working under a temporary license while studying for her board exam, successfully earned her OT credentials, and has been an invaluable member of our team ever since.

Song loves the diversity of patients in the neurorehabilitation setting because every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn. She is especially passionate about helping patients improve balance, coordination, and vision, making neurorehabilitation an exciting place to grow as a clinician. Most recently, Song earned her Functional Vision Rehabilitation Specialist certification, further expanding her expertise to better serve our patients.

When she's not at Moody, you'll find Song crocheting gifts for friends, baking, reading, or dancing.

We are excited to spotlight Ciara, PRN Speech-Language Pathologist, and her four-legged therapy partner, Heidi!

Heidi brings more than just wagging tails and puppy cuddles to Moody Neuro Lubbock. Therapy dogs can help reduce stress and anxiety, encourage social interaction, improve mood, and provide comfort and motivation during challenging moments. For our patients, Heidi's presence can help create a positive and welcoming environment where they feel more relaxed and engaged in their rehabilitation journey.

We're grateful to have Ciara and Heidi as part of the Moody Neuro Lubbock family!

Functional therapy is even more meaningful when it incorporates a patient's interests! By connecting therapy to real-life activities, patients can improve engagement while building skills that support greater independence beyond rehabilitation.

Here, our OT is targeting standing tolerance, upper extremity coordination, and attention, all while enjoying the game of golf!

Moody Neuro Lubbock visited Holly Hop Ice Cream Shop to beat the summer heat with a sweet treat! Our patients practiced community mobility, budgeting, and communication skills while enjoying time out in the community.

From the smiles on these faces, we’d say this outing was an easy 10/10!

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️
