Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
🌳 Helping you heal from past hurts or patterns that feel stuck
🧡 Often relief in 1-5 sessions
Deep Healing. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based therapy that reprograms how the brain stores distressing memories and imagery, so they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional rea

ctions. ART is a short duration treatment conducted in standalone sessions making it convenient and cost-effective for individuals to attain improved overall mental health. Life improvement occurs naturally after the distressing memory, images or self-talk is resolved. Often people report feeling remarkable relief immediately following their first session. Many people only need one session, but some studies show optimal benefit after an average of 3-5 sessions. People sustain the life improvement gained through ART; multiple research studies showed participants in ART demonstrated continued significant improvements even in 2 and 3 month follow-ups. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is officially recognized by The National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) as an evidence-based practice. Several research studies have demonstrated that with only a few sessions, ART is an effective treatment for the following (www.samhsa.gov):

• Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD)
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Phobias
• Grief
• Addiction/Substance Abuse
• Improving personal resilience

ART has also shown to provide remarkable benefits to variety of presenting issues such as (www.acceleratedresolutiontherapy.com):

• Trauma related to abuse (including emotional, physical and sexual abuse)
• Birth trauma
• Trauma related to injury, car accident or medical experience
• Poor self-image / Toxic self-talk
• Family issues
• Relationship issues / Infidelity
• Codependence
• Stress
• OCD
• Panic attacks / Issues with fear
• Grief and loss
• Guilt
• Sleep issues / Nightmares
• Anger
• Personality disorders
• Memory enhancement
• Hypervigilance
• Pain management
• Various psychiatric conditions
• Antisocial behaviors
• Combat-related posttraumatic stress

ART combines well established techniques from several traditional forms of psychotherapy including the rapid eye movements similar to EMDR, Gestalt techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy, relaxation skills training, and Narrative Therapy. But unlike other therapies, ART reliably produces a significantly faster and lasting recovery without prolonged distress during or between sessions. ART is able to deliver rapid lasting results through the use of eye movements, similar to the eye movements that occur naturally while dreaming that facilitate healing. ART is NOT related to hypnosis; a client is always in control and fully aware during the entire ART session, with the therapist only guiding the process. ART is unique, that it is not a traditional talk therapy; a client can choose to not share their trauma or difficult life experiences with the therapist, and it will not impact the effectiveness of their recovery. This makes ART an ideal choice for people who prefer their lives to remain private or struggle to put their experiences into words. After a session people report feeling relieved, empowered, a clearer perspective, better able to manage their stress, more confident to face their triggers and overall positive emotions.

Therapist dilemma... what would you do?

A- Let clients know ahead of time that there is tissue in the bathroom.

B- Refill the tissue box with paper towels, something is better than nothing.

C- Apologize everytime someone reaches for a tissue.

D- Something different (What else would you suggest?).

Before opening my private practice, I worked for large healthcare organizations where I became very familiar with mental health diagnoses and the criteria behind them.

Diagnoses can be an important tool, but over time I realized that a person is so much more than the symptoms they experience or the label they may receive.

One of the reasons I chose private pay therapy is because it gives me the freedom to focus less on proving what is wrong and more on understanding and working toward what someone hopes will be different in their life.

Healing is not finding the perfect label. Healing focuses on understanding yourself, building on your strengths, and moving toward the life you hope to create🧡.

If August has felt heavier than expected, I hope this remind you to be kind with yourself and that you are not alone. You don't have to wait until you're overwhelmed before reaching out for support.

Sometimes what you're feeling isn't because something is "wrong" with you. It is normal to feel increased stress when you're navigating a season of change.
This time of year often brings:
• Back-to-school pressures
• Changes in work schedules
• Depleted energy from a busy summer
• More responsibilities and less downtime
• Less daylight and drearier weather

If you're looking for a few places to start, I've also included free healing resources at the bottom of the FAQ page on my website. I hope they're helpful tools as you navigate this season.

Grateful to have spent the afternoon with a room full of incredibly skilled ART therapists who are making a difference in the lives of people throughout our community.

So many of the clinicians in this room are people I deeply admire for the work they do, the wisdom they share, and the paths they've helped pave. It was such an honor to spend time learning from and investing in each other.

This work can feel heavy at times, and I'm grateful we don't have to do it alone. We truly are better together 🧡.

Welcome back to MYLA SAYS, a fun series created to bring a smile to your Friday🧡.
Today, Myla has a lot to say about taking courageous steps toward healing.
Myla truly believes she's a therapist by proxy. When I first opened Deep Roots Counseling 5 years ago, I saw a few clients out of my home office. Although Myla has been nocturnal her whole life, every time I started a trauma session, she would wake up and join us.

Her favorite people are those who claim they’re not "cat people". She is determined to convert everyone she meets into a Sphynx lover, whether they want to be convinced or not. With her warm dog-like affection, she has an impressive success rate.

However wise as Myla may seem... she's not a licensed therapist and isn't a substitute for a genuine therapeutic relationship 🧡.
I hope her little nuggets of wisdom helped bring sunshine to your day.

It's Friday, so let's make it fun! Meet Myla, my sweet, sassy, affectionate Sphynx kitty🧡.

Myla believes she's a therapist by proxy and has been supporting Deep Roots Counseling since it began almost five years ago. One late night, while she was warming my lap and snuggled under a blanket as I wrote some posts, she inspired this new series.

As wise as Myla may seem... she's not a licensed therapist and isn't a substitute for a genuine therapeutic relationship 🧡.

I hope her little nuggets of wisdom help brighten your day. See you next Friday night for another episode of MYLA SAYS.

Curious what a typical Thursday looks like for me as a therapist? I invite you to spend the day with me. One of my favorite parts of owning a private practice is the freedom to design a schedule that allows me to prioritize the type of care I want to provide.

I intentionally don't stack appointments back-to-back in 50-minute blocks. Instead, I leave space between sessions so clients don't feel rushed out the door if they need a few extra moments. Those breaks also give me time to reset, reflect, complete notes, and show up fully present and my best for each person I meet with.

I also reserve two evenings each week for late appointments because I want therapy to be accessible for those who work traditional business hours. Making quality care more accessible is something I'm deeply passionate about.

There are certainly more financially efficient ways to structure a therapy schedule, but profitability has never been my primary focus. I opened a private practice so I could offer the kind of therapy I believe leads to deep, lasting healing. I love maintaining a slower rhythm that allows me to provide the quality of care each client deserves.

I'm grateful to do work I genuinely love, and it's a privilege to walk alongside people as they heal.

Thanks for spending the day with me. 🧡

*This series doesn't represent actual client sessions I offered this week. This is a typical Thursday rhythm with common struggles I help people address*

I am so deeply grateful for all the beautiful people I've been able to connect with and witness their growth and healing as they discover what's possible for their lives. Being a therapist brings me so much joy; I'll never take for granted the opportunity to share in people's stories.

Thank you to everyone who has entrusted me with part of your journey. It truly is an honor 🧡

To all Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) providers in the Tampa area, we’re hosting our first ART Collaborative Event.

This gathering is an opportunity for clinicians using ART to come together, connect with one another, and build relationships within our local ART professional community. The intention is to create space for connection, shared learning, and meaningful conversation among providers who are using this modality in their work.

If you’re an ART provider nearby, I’d love for you to join us.
