We are incredibly proud to share that through the work that started here at BPoM 10 years ago, and that was continued by steadfast bereaved parents around the state, yesterday the Stillbirth Recognition and Support Act was signed into law by Governor Tony Evers ! A few of our long-time members and volunteers were able to attend the bill signing. This is incredibly important legislation that honors stillborn babies as STILL BORN. Although the $2,000 non-refundable tax credit will not cover all the medical expenses, burial costs, and lost wages of these parents, it goes a long way in recognizing their babies as children born in the state of Wisconsin and offering meaningful support.

We are immensely grateful to Sen. André Jacque and Representative Lindee Brill for their leadership as well as all of the cosponsors and each legislator that voted for this bill, along with the core group of parents who led this bill across the finish line. Many of our bereaved parents have offered public testimony over the past 10 years, and we are grateful they shared their stories and their babies with us. This is for you sweet babies, you matter, you count!
