Safety is the soil where confidence grows. 🌱

When children feel emotionally safe, they are more able to ask questions, make mistakes, take healthy risks, express their feelings, set boundaries, and explore who they are becoming.

A child who feels safe doesn’t need to be perfect to feel loved.

They can say:

“I don’t understand.”
“I need help.”
“I made a mistake.”
“I feel sad.”
“I don’t want to.”
“Can I try again?”

And each time we respond with connection instead of shame, we teach them that relationships can be a safe place to learn, grow, and be fully human.

✨ Emotional safety doesn’t mean children never struggle.
It means they know they don’t have to struggle alone.

This weekend was a good reminder that I've developed some unhelpful habits while fishing mostly bluegills and focusing primarily on therapy when I'm out. I need to practice casting! It was amazing attending a casting class with at Midwest Tenkara Fest this weekend. I appreciate everyone who helped with line, hand, and wrist adjustments. Time to fish for plates in the yard!

The Tenkara community is one of the friendliest that I've encountered, and the Midwest Tenkara Fest 2026 event was full of just really good people. I learned a ton and have plenty to practice! The nights were cold 🥶, the days were sunny ☀️, and the hammock stand stood (eventually). It was so nice to get out camping and fishing! Socializing around coffee and campfires 🔥 is always a win. My heart is happy and I'm so, so tired! 😴😁🎣
