Are you…
*Leaving the doctor with lingering questions or not fully understanding your diagnosis?
*Being told “I don’t practice that kind of medicine” when discussing anti-obesity therapies?
*Shamed about your body size despite efforts to change it?
*On a year-long wait list?
I hope I can help!
On this page I hope I can
1. give you tools and knowledge to facilitate a productive conversation with your health care team
2. answer your questions: I’ll answer up to 2 public questions each day with answers that hopefully inform larger numbers of people
3. make you aware of advocacy efforts to expand endocrine and obesity care at a local (Wisconsin) and/or national level
4. keep you up to date on clinical trials that are recruiting
5. inform you of group medical sessions I’m hosting and if/when I resume patient consultations
I am

In Endocrinology, there is a concept that your hormones can be “inappropriately normal” (they are in the normal range, for someone who is at baseline health, but based on whatever not-at-baseline signals your body is sending, your numbers should be responding—getting higher or lower. If they’re not, we deem that a problem.
I’ve seen what’s normal in healthcare. And I think it’s a problem. It’s time to stop being “Inappropriately Normal” and start working on creative solutions to empower health.
