One of the biggest lessons I've learned in healthcare is this:
Talking at people and telling them what to do rarely creates lasting change.
Because lasting transformation doesn't happen when someone tells you what to do.
For years as a nurse, I educated patients, provided recommendations, and shared evidence-based information. While education is important, information alone doesn't automatically translate into action.
That's one of the reasons I chose to become a Board-Certified Holistic Nurse Coach.
Coaching starts from a different place.
Instead of telling people what they should do, I help them uncover what they already know is important, what obstacles are standing in their way, and what realistic actions fit their unique circumstances, values, goals, and resources.
The truth is that most people already know they should eat better, move more, manage stress, sleep more, or prioritize their health.
The challenge isn't knowledge.
The challenge is creating sustainable change in the middle of a busy, demanding life.
That's where coaching shines.
It's about increasing awareness, building confidence, creating accountability, and helping people keep moving forward—even when motivation fluctuates.
Because lasting transformation doesn't happen when someone tells you what to do.
It happens when you discover your own reasons for change and have the support, structure, and accountability to follow through.
That's the work that inspires me every day.
