For 50 years, The Meadows has helped individuals and families reclaim hope, build resilience, and achieve meaningful, lasting recovery.

Since 1976, our work has been grounded in trauma-focused, patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and a commitment to continually evolving alongside the needs of the people we serve. That legacy has been strengthened by the clinicians, referents, partners, alumni, and team members who have shared in our mission and trusted us with the care of their clients and communities.

Throughout 2026, we are bringing our community together at 50th Anniversary celebrations across The Meadows. We invite our professional partners to join us as we honor five decades of changing lives, celebrate the relationships that have made this work possible, and look ahead to the future of behavioral healthcare.

Recovery isn't about erasing the past, it's about choosing what you carry forward.

At our Wickenburg campus, our graduates took part in a meaningful ceremony, writing down what they are ready to let go of before placing their words into water and watching the ink slowly dissolve. A simple but powerful reminder that healing is a process, and growth comes one intentional step at a time.

Recovery is built through commitment, courage, and the support of a community that walks beside you every step of the way. Today, we celebrate the hard work, resilience, and hope of our graduates as they continue their journey forward.

💙 Congratulations, graduates. Your next chapter is just beginning.

What if the behaviors we struggle with aren’t something to fight against, but something to better understand?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy invites us to approach ourselves with curiosity and compassion. Rather than asking, “Why am I like this?” we can begin exploring a deeper question: “What is this part of me trying to do for me?”

When we understand the different parts of ourselves and the roles they have taken on, we can begin creating greater harmony within our internal system.

At Rio Retreat Center at The Meadows, the PARTS workshop helps participants explore their inner world, understand their parts, and develop greater self-leadership through the principles of IFS.

The next PARTS workshop takes place August 10–14. Learn more about the workshop and how this approach can support self-discovery and healing: https://hubs.la/Q04qr4730

Can a medication best known for treating diabetes and supporting weight loss also help reduce alcohol cravings?

Researchers are exploring whether semaglutide may help reduce cravings and heavy drinking for some people with alcohol use disorder. While the early findings are promising, semaglutide is not currently FDA-approved to treat alcohol use disorder, and it's not a replacement for comprehensive addiction treatment.

Our latest blog breaks down what the research says, what it doesn't, and why lasting recovery often requires more than medication alone.

Trauma isn't just something we remember, it can also be stored in the body.

Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that helps people reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and support healing beyond words. For many individuals, especially when traditional talk therapy hasn't been enough on its own, it can offer an important path toward recovery.
In this blog, we explore how somatic therapy works, why it's helpful for trauma healing, and the role it can play as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Stigma can be one of the biggest barriers standing between women and the support they deserve.

Even when someone knows they need help, shame, stigma, fear of judgment, and concerns about family, work, or relationships can make asking for support feel impossible.

The truth is that addiction doesn't define a person, and seeking treatment is never a sign of weakness.

Our latest article from Willow Healing Center at The Meadows explores:
- Why stigma impacts women differently
- The hidden barriers that keep women from seeking care
- How trauma-focused, women-centered treatment creates a safer path to healing

Understanding these barriers is an important step toward changing the conversation and making it easier for more women to access the support they deserve.

Not every relapse looks like returning to alcohol or drugs.
Sometimes it looks like working nonstop.
Obsessing over exercise.
Compulsive shopping.
Hours of scrolling.
Even "healthy" habits that slowly become impossible to control.

When one coping strategy is replaced with another, it may be a sign that the underlying pain still needs attention.

Recovery isn't about being perfect. It's about understanding why we reach for certain behaviors and healing the underlying wounds instead of simply changing the behavior.

If you've ever wondered whether a new habit is helping you heal or quietly taking over, our latest article breaks down:
✔️ What replacement addiction is
✔️ Why it happens
✔️ Warning signs to watch for
✔️ When it's time to ask for support

Read the full article here:

Recovery isn't just about stopping one behavior. Learn what replacement addiction is, why it happens, warning signs, and how treatment can help.
