Heartwood is an innovative early education program designed for neurodivergent learners aged 3-5. Our mission is to empower and celebrate unique minds.

Our child-led approach seamlessly integrates occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and specialized instruction within a nurturing, neurodiversity-affirming environment. At Heartwood, we provide tailored support for sensory, social-emotional, and communication needs, maintaining a low 2:1 student-to-teacher ratio.

We’re getting together again for our Neurodiversity Affirming Professional Learning Circle and we’d love for you to be part of it!

This time, Laurie Sherman, M.A. CCC/SLP is leading a conversation on The International Classification of Functioning (ICF) & Neurodiversity-Affirming Assessment. The presentation/discussion will begin at 5:45 - we know it’s going to spark some great conversation!

Heartwood Therapeutic Learning Community is a small, neurodiversity affirming school in Malvern, PA that provides a truly individualized education. Relationship-based occupational therapy & speech therapy supports are embedded throughout the day.

We use a DIR Floortime model that guides us to be curious about each student’s inner experience and individual differences in order to create a learning environment that prioritizes felt safety and promotes engagement.

When students’ regulation needs are consistently met, they begin to soar academically. Heartwood is a unique place where there is both meaningful support available for areas of need as well as opportunities for challenge in areas of strength - and neurodivergent students deserve both!

Looking for a fun, sensory friendly activity this weekend?! 🌲⛄️

Join us at our Winter Market! ❄️ We’ll have cookie decorating, crafts, and gross motor play options for kids (including an igloo climber & felt snow balls!!!) as well as student made gifts & items for sale from local artists and vendors to help check off your holiday shopping lists!

In addition to being a fun community-building event, this event is also a fundraiser to support our school programs. Heartwood is an innovative preschool & elementary school for neurodivergent students with a wide range of support needs. We combine compassionate, respectful care with evidence-based therapeutic & academic interventions. Heartwood is truly such a magical place where students can be themselves and build their confidence as learners ❤️

Our students are focusing on the letter M this week! To best support their learning, we provide direct instruction as well as integrate learning opportunities into child-led play. For our students who use AAC devices, they can find all the information they need on their literacy pages - offering additional opportunities to see the written letter M, find words that use the letter M and even see a video of how to produce the letter sound to better support their motor planning for speech!

Nothing is sweeter than watching our students make connections. And boy was this ice cream delicious! Mmmmmm, so good! 🍦😋
