Have you heard of phlebolymphedema?
It occurs when chronic venous insufficiency places an increased fluid burden on the lymphatic system. Over time, the lymphatic system may become overwhelmed, resulting in both venous and lymphatic dysfunction.
Common signs can include persistent lower-leg swelling, heaviness, skin changes, fibrosis, recurrent cellulitis and venous wounds.
Recognizing that chronic swelling may involve both systems can be an important part of getting appropriate evaluation and developing an individualized management plan.
At Lymph Therapeutics, we provide specialized mobile outpatient lymphedema and wound care throughout Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties.
