I don’t usually compare different 70.3 courses for PR’s because it’s apples and oranges, but in this case, it is so well deserved and well worth noting. completed IM 70.3 La Quinta in 6:48:42. Today, he finished IM 70.3 Oceanside, a course with over 3000 feet more of total elevation gain, and a swim that has at least 400 meters in true open ocean waters in a total time of 6:47:47.
A personal best by 1 minute and 5 seconds on a much harder course. A true PR indeed.
I asked him 10 weeks ago what his goal was and he said, he just wanted to be more comfortable and feel better racing. But I think we both knew he wanted a PR here because my Type A athletes are just built that way.
These last few weeks came with so many challenges and that’s why this achievement comes so much sweeter. I was literally screaming at my phone “come on Greg! You got this! Sprint! Sprint!”
So proud. Congrats Greg. This is all you. Onwards and upwards.
