The Cognitive Sanctuary

The Cognitive Sanctuary At The Cognitive Sanctuary, we believe that mental health is a journey, not a destination.

Our mission is to provide a space where emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being can flourish through faith, counseling, and community.

Healing doesn’t only happen in a session.

It happens between sessions too: in the quiet moments, the hard nights, the “I don’t know where to start” mornings.

Hi. I’m Dee. 👋🏾

Navy vet. Resident in Counseling. Speaker. And someone who knows what it feels like to carry more than you should.

I built The Cognitive Sanctuary because faith and mental health belong together, and because it matters who you talk to.

I also speak at churches, conferences, and corporate events. If you need someone who will meet your audience exactly where they are, let’s connect.

Your friend finally said it: “I’m not okay.”

Now what?

Most of us freeze. Or we try to fix it. Or we say something we immediately regret.

Here's 4 things that actually help:
(because loving someone well in their hard moment is a skill. 👉🏿)

1: Listen first. Don't fix. Don't compare. Just stay.
2: Ask, "What do you need from me right now?" (and mean it.)
3: Normalize counseling. Share resources without pressure.
4: Keep checking in. One conversation isn't enough.

Bonus: Pray WITH them, not just FOR them — if they're open to it.

Tag someone who shows up for people like this. 💚

New mercy.

Every. Single. Morning.

Not because you earned it. Not because you got it right yesterday. Just because He is faithful.

Whatever you’re dragging into this week... set it down. New morning, new mercy.

“His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.” — Lamentations 3:22-23

Save this for the next hard morning. 🙏🏾

"She is patient, compassionate, and deeply anointed...I finally feel like I can breathe again.”

That’s the sentence I never get tired of hearing.

Healing doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like exhaling for the first time in years.

If you’ve been holding your breath — we have space for you at TCS.

This one’s personal.

20 years in the Navy taught me discipline, resilience, and how to push through anything.

What it didn’t teach me was how to feel.

This Memorial Day weekend, I’m remembering the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

I’m also holding space for the ones who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day — veterans, military spouses, and those who have spent years surviving in silence.

That’s why I built The Cognitive Sanctuary, because honoring sacrifice also means caring for the people still carrying pain, grief, and invisible wounds.

You’ve carried enough for a long time.

Let someone care for you for a minute.

I got your back. 🇺🇸 –Dee

People ask us this all the time.

Our answer? Everything.

Your faith isn't competing with your healing journey... it’s the ground you’re standing on while you do it.

At TCS, we don’t check your theology at the door. We bring it in with you.

What’s one area of your life where you’ve felt you had to choose between your faith and getting real help? Drop it in the comments. 👇🏿
