🚨‼️ STORM CLEANUP ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE ⛈️☔️💨

If you are elderly, disabled, or otherwise unable to manage storm cleanup on your own in the Manhattan area, Golden Rule Home Care may be able to help.

Please send us a direct message or text 785-323-0104 to request assistance.

Please note that we are not a professional tree removal service. Assistance is limited to raking, gathering, and carrying manageable debris and small-to-medium-sized limbs to the curb. We are unable to remove large trees, large limbs, or perform work that requires specialized equipment.

Availability is limited and services will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.

One of our elderly clients recently passed away, and her children wanted to honor her generous heart by donating some of her belongings to individuals or families in need who may not otherwise be able to afford them.

Available FREE/donation items:

-Piano with bench (needs tuned)
-Walker with tray, cup holders & storage pouches
- Two (2) standard walkers (only one left)
-Shower chair
-Red electric recliner
-Red/black Drive wheelchair
-Blue/black Drive wheelchair (has been picked up, no longer available)
-Brown electric recliner with battery backup & handheld remote
-Blue electric recliner with battery backup & handheld remote

Big shoutout and a Huge thank you to Sarah at Sunflower Design Barn for these incredible shirts for Golden Rule Home Care.

I spent months trying to come up with a design I loved, but just couldn’t get it right. Sarah took my ideas and brought them to life in a way that perfectly reflects the heart of what I do. She was so patient through all of my little tweaks and revisions, making sure every detail was exactly how I envisioned it.

I am so happy with how these turned out—especially the sleeve detail. 😍

When I left my healthcare job a few years ago, I was scared I might be making the wrong decision. I walked away from steady income, a reliable schedule, and great health insurance to start a business I wasn’t even sure would succeed.

I had zero experience as a business owner. No knowledge of taxes, insurance requirements, bookkeeping, or everything else that comes with building something from the ground up.

But I took the leap anyway… and I’m so happy I did.

As I approach three years in business this April, I reflect on how I’ve grown in more ways than I ever imagined. My clients have become like family, and it’s so fulfilling to do work that genuinely serves others.

One of my very first clients is a wonderful woman who used to work with my grandfather, Bob Anderson. We’ve shared a little about them before in a previous post.

One day she handed me a “golden ruler” and a small marble in a case that reads: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Inside was a note explaining the meaning behind the Golden Rule marble and philosophy. She told me these were gifts to her from my grandpa.

In that moment, everything felt so surreal and aligned.

It didn’t feel like a coincidence, especially with how deeply it connects to the name and purpose of my business. It felt like confirmation. Like I was exactly where I was meant to be.

Maybe even a little sign from heaven.

I am in awe and so grateful for this business, the opportunities to care for others, and the small signs that remind me why I do this. I think Papa would be proud. ❤️
