Pilates was originally called Contrology by the creator, Joseph Pilates. It has many possibilities including an exercise regimen, neuromuscular re-education (basically setting the stage for proper biomechanics), or just muscle/joint health and maintenance. Different types of apparatus:

Pilates Ladder Barrel
Pilates Spine Corrector
MOTR (Balanced Body; Movement on the roller)
Odds and ends that help: Magic circle, Theraband, Stick, Foam Roller
