In Loving Memory of Shakeirah Leshay Johnson

Shakeirah Leshay Johnson, affectionately known as “Keira,” was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend whose life was cherished by all who knew and loved her. Born with a spirit and personality uniquely her own, Shakeirah leaves behind a legacy of love, treasured memories, and family bonds that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.

A proud native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Shakeirah pursued her education at Southern University and A&M College and Louisiana State University, institutions that were part of her educational journey.

Beyond her education, Shakeirah found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a love for shopping and took great pride in making a house feel like home. One of her favorite hobbies was decorating her home to reflect the changing seasons, bringing warmth, creativity, and a special touch to her surroundings throughout the year. These personal touches reflected the things she enjoyed and the care she put into creating a welcoming space for herself and her loved ones.

Shakeirah’s greatest blessings included her family. She shared her life with her beloved husband, Mario Johnson, and was a devoted mother to her son, Justin Johnson. The love she shared with her family will remain a lasting part of her legacy. It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Natividad Ortiz de Rivera (Trina), who departed this life on October 11, 2026, at the age of 95. She was a remarkable woman whose love, strength, kindness, and wisdom touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Trina was born on June 12, 1931, in Barranquitas, Puerto Ricoto Marcial Ortiz and Marta Ramos. As the oldest girl, she helped raise her nine younger siblings. On July 5, 1952, she married her sweetheart, Angel Rivera, in Barranquitas. He was a proud Army soldier, and his assignments took them to Alaska, Washington State, Hawaii, Kentucky, Virginia, and Puerto Rico. During his Vietnam tour between 1968 and 1969, Trina stayed with her children in Puerto Rico. Upon Angel’s retirement from the Army in Nov 1971, the family returned to Puerto Rico.

Throughout her life, Trina took pleasure in cultivating a garden, preparing delicious feasts for her family and sewing. She was an undisputed champion in playing dominoes. Trina’s family was her greatest treasure, and she gave of herself generously,prioritizing the needs and happiness of those she loved.

Trina leaves behind her surviving siblings, Jose Alberto, Efrain, Ana, Miriam, Eladio, Maritza, Pablo Marcial, Angel Luis, as well as sister-in-law, Francisca. Also left to cherish her memory are her son Angel Jr (wife Julia Dudley), son Hector (wife Alicia Arturet), daughter...
